About this deal

On the tabletop, Angron is a modest 400 pts, but stands out as having only a 3+/4++ save with The Armour of Mars. This is certainly unusual, but with his I 7, WS 9 and S 7 he probably will get the first hits in to turn whatever he is facing into powder (and in a Primarch v Primarch fight they would be doing Invulnerable saves by default anyway). While the skulking cowards of the Night Lords figure out how to sneak around toting oversized chainglaives, the World Eaters prefer a less elegant weapon, befitting a more brutal age. The XII Legion pioneered the use of the chainaxe, which trades the balance of a chainsword for a heftier biting edge – perfect for putting the full force of their transhuman musculature and Savage Fervour behind every swing. Dara’s list trades two units of Berzerkers and a Rhino for Jakhals and uses the leftover points for a unit of six Eightbound. The list also swaps in Kharn the Betrayer for some fun added punching power on the ground. Dara faced a tough slate of games, including two games against against Imperial Knights, which can further exacerbate the army’s need to go first. This list has as much board control but can hit a bit harder with its Berzerker squads and the Eightbound unit gives it more punch against elite infantry – though Custodes units will typically just negate this by giving them -1 damage and making it all but impossible to cut them down in a single turn. Final Thoughts Jakhals are brutal human cultists pumped with combat stims and eight drops of the warp-infused blood of true World Eaters, turning them into furious melee machines with no regard for their own lives. They’re effective fighters in their own right, and throw themselves into enemy guns for a chance to please their murderous god. World Eaters Datacards and Dice Set

The monstrous lords of the World Eaters legion are so despicable, we’ve given two of them their own guides: Overally, Surlak is an amazing support character for a mere 110pts. I would say he is an easy “must-take” for the 4+ Feel No Pain alone, but the Inductii are an amazing add-on as well. He is very popular in World Eaters lists, for good reason. The World Eaters are one of my favourite Legions to play against – you end up in a desperate scrabble to try to gun them down before they hit you, and then it comes down to a Marine-on-Marine fight in the dirt. It screams “Horus Heresy” to me! This is an uncomplicated Rite with an easy objective – get across the board, and pin the enemy into their deployment zone with infantry, and kill them. Admittedly, that is probably the plan for every game you play World Eaters…Their special rules are Fearless, Hatred (Everything) and Feel No Pain (6+) , which makes them tough buggers to start with. This is then layered on by the Unstoppable Charge rule, allowing them to re-roll failed charges, which is brilliant for a close combat specialist unit. Alas, the Warmaster didn’t factor the World Eaters’ impulsive nature into his plans. Angron was even less governable than the Khan , and it took all the firepower Perturabo could muster to get him to the Sol System in time for the Siege of Terra . The World Eaters were the twelfth legion of Space Marines created by the Emperor of Mankind in the 31st millennium. Their Primarch Angron was raised a slave in the gladiatorial pits of Nuceria. Although a formidable warrior, his mind was forever altered by a brutal pain engine installed into his nervous system by his cruel owners, an agonising device that could only be assuaged when slaughtering foes in hand to hand combat. Angron ultimately led a slave revolt against his masters, and would have died fighting side by side with his fellow slaves had the Emperor not intervened, whisking him away.

After one of your units is destroyed within range of an objective marker you control, you retain control of that marker even when you have no models contesting it, until your opponent claims it.A Warlord (or Field Commander) from this Detachment with the Bloodblessed Warlord Trait would work well alongside a Master of Executions, making for a pretty terrifying tag team that can cut their way through even the toughest Characters. These new all-in-melee cultists are sweet and will probably do pretty well if they aren’t over-costed! World Eaters Datacards & Dice Set

As bosses go, Angron wasn’t ideal – for starters, he slaughtered a bunch of his own men in a fit of pique just after being press-ganged. Only Eighth Captain Khârn managed to form a friendship of sorts with him.*** He even demanded that his best Apothecaries and Techmarines reverse-engineer the Butcher’s Nails, pushing the Legion’s pain tolerance and lust for violence even further. Continue with the path of the Warmaster, this time with the plans regarding Angron and his World Eaters carving a blood path. Angron, Daemon Primarch of Khorne

On the Battlefield

Worse, the Legionaries began to experiment (with Angron’s encouragement) with implanting cruder versions of the Nails implanted in Angron’s skull, a form of mass psycho-surgery following the Massacre at Ghenna. Many of Angron’s fellow Primarchs were appalled at what the XII was becoming – unhinged lunatics in their eyes, unable to be trusted or relied on in battle. Under Angron’s leadership, the World Eaters did little to deny the accusation that they were blunt instruments of the Emperor’s fury. As the World Eaters became estranged from the Legions, Horus stood by his brother – as did the Khan – and the Warmaster’s support for Angron made the Red Angel easy prey to the Arch-Traitor’s lies. Blessings of Khorne: You throw a handful of dice (8) at the start of each battleround, which can be spent, based on their results, on up to two Blessings from the table, which apply to all your units. To take this, you must have an additional Compulsory Troops choice, cannot take more vehicles with the Tank/Flyer type than you have Infantry, and can only take a single Consul as part of your HQ choices (and cannot take a Librarian). You also cannot take allies or a Fortification. This is quite restrictive, channeling you deliberately down the path to an Infantry heavy force, focused on Troops. So, what are the benefits?
