About this deal

The skeg is definitely a must-have for the kayak because it improved the performance on the water a lot. For paddling from time to time a bit on a calm and small lake where you want to relax the Challenger K2 is great option. Compared to other inflatable kayaks, the Challenger K2 is somewhat sluggish and reacts slowly to a change of direction. The boat is available as a 1-person kayak ( Intex Challenger K1) and as a 2-person kayak (Intex Challenger K2). We now wanted to know for ourselves how is it to paddle the Intex 1-person kayak and can it compete with a good quality inflatable kayak.

The Intex Challenger K2 is the company’s mid-range inflatable kayak and the one that I have owned and enjoyed for years. However, the space between the floor chamber and the cockpit chamber is so narrow in the kayak that you have to contort yourself to get your legs under the cockpit. I won't be taking them to any strong water though (there's a lot of canals here to explore), and they will always wear their Buoyancy Aids. The Velcro strip on the floor and the seat straps are long enough so that you can position the front seat sufficiently far back or in the middle of the kayak. The supplied Intex Double Quick II* is a small-volume double-stroke pump with three different attachments. A grab line at each end is provided for your convenience, as well as a cargo net for extra storage and a repair patch kit. The material seems thick and sturdy, which means it shouldn’t tear or puncture anytime soon and should stand up to a fair amount of wear and tear. However, my partner Alex is 6 foot tall (not sure how much he weights but he’s pretty slim/fit), and he felt more unstable and wobbly due to the weight.

some fibreglass Yakkers I met were very impressed with the form and surprised at how little it cost. The bag doesn’t make a rough impression but for short transports or storing the kayak at home the transport bag should be sufficient. However, it can’t compete with other inflatable ones in terms of performance, for example the Advanved Elements AdvancedFrame. The quality of the material looks and feels very strong and durable, especially when it comes to kids being rough with it. It was very easy to inflate, took roughly 7 minutes, once assembled it was very sturdy and comfortable, there was ample room for myself (in the back) and my wife, I'm nearly 6ft and had plenty of room. Lightweight and compact, this kayak is very easy to assemble and, with the Boston valve, it inflates and deflates in minutes. Honestly, that paddle will probably be the first thing to break, though I imagine it will last us at least a couple of years.

If you are at an office or shared network, you can ask the network administrator to run a scan across the network looking for misconfigured or infected devices. We won't lie; we initially had some doubts about how the Intex Challenger K2 would perform on the water. It is made with a strong vinyl material to ensure it is sturdy enough to handle rugged river waters. There is also a detachable skeg on the bottom of the boat to help keep you headed in a semi-straight direction, but do expect the nose of the kayak to swing back and forth a bit when you paddle, especially if doing so aggressively. We have to admit that we had built up the Intex Challenger K2 before and therefore we are a bit familiar with the construction.Due to the separate air chambers it is still possible to reach the shore safely even if one chamber fails. At 5’3″ and 5’6″ we had plenty of room for our legs in front, but the inflatable cone that goes down by your feet to hold the cockpit open for your toes takes up some room, so keep that in mind. I have only had one outing, the Kennet and Avon canal, but like you I plan to get in some coastal paddling as well, when conditions are suitable of course. Despite the similar cost, the Challenger K2 has one benefit over the Explorer that is noteworthy: the cargo net is actually surprisingly useful as I always find myself stowing gear like lifejackets, waterproof cameras, etc.
