About this deal

Indeed they are on the more lightweight end of the scale when compared to other 50mm binoculars that I have tested (see table below) and whilst they are a little heavier than the 10x42 Maven B1.2, they do compare and even come in under the weight of some 10x42 binoculars on the market. This is especially impressive when you consider that they have a magnesium chassis and mostly metal components.

The prism design gives the binos a zig-zag shape, and often the objectives are placed much further apart than the ocular lenses. This is in addition to the binos being quite bulky. While this can make Porro prism binos more fragile, they also have upsides, such as clearer images without needing much modification to the glass components. Of course, this makes Porro prism binos easier to produce, which inevitably brings the cost of owning them down. It comes with a range of reflection management that can help you to source even in the low light too. For someone like me who has to attach many straps to many binoculars, I do appreciate how much easier and less time consuming this is than the normal method of using sliders. Optics are crisp and clear with notable natural colour reproduction. The precise focusing wheel allows focussing down to 2m. Speaking of which these have an good IPD range of between 6cm and 7.4cm, which means they should accommodate most users. These have twist-up eyecups which allow you to comfortably position your eyes the correct distance behind the ocular lenses so as to ensure you are able to view the entire image without any dark rings forming on the edges of the view.

Light up the night (big time) and charge your devices with this massively muscular flashlight and powerbank Mid-sized binoculars: for bird and wildlife watching in your garden go for something with more magnification as you’ll most likely be observing from a distance. If you can get them onto a tripod, even better, because hand-holding binoculars for long periods is tiring and means image-shake.The ideal lens will not allow the dispersion of light while it travels through it. So far, the closest to this ideal is the Extra-Low-Dispersion glass or ED glass. Because of the costs of production, this type of glass is encountered only in premium binoculars and the image you see through the lenses made of ED glass has high contrast and high sharpness and clarity. At 31mm diameter & 28mm long, it looks and indeed feels like these Maven B.6 12x50 binoculars use exactly the same focus wheel as that on the B1.2, which is great news as it is certainly up there with my all time favorites. Another roof prism BAK-4 pair of binos to make it onto the list is the Leupold BX-4 Pro Guide. These binos feature the Twilight Max HD Light Management System coating on the glass elements, enhancing light transmission for clearer images with enough contrast and color fidelity. The focus wheel is situated centrally, with the binos having an open bridge design to reduce the weight. The best thing about this fantastic source of the item is the harness that you will be getting for this fantastic pair. This helps you to harness the couple that you want and keep it close to you.

The image is very clear and sharp due to the fact that every lens inside the binocular is multi-coated. High-end binoculars: for low light observation and stargazing, a bigger, brighter lens is worth investing in. However, the tripod point remains because such models can be relatively heavy. When opting to use a larger 50mm binocular over a more typical 42mm one, you are sacrificing some extra weight and bulk for the advantage of being able to capture more light which should increase image quality, brightness, and low light capabilities: Whatever the case, I do believe that both Maven binoculars are truly excellent in their respective classes in this regard. The IPD (Inter-Pupillary Distance) range on these 50mm Maven B6 binoculars goes from a minimum of 5.8cm up to 7.4cm which is pretty typical, but note that because of the wider barrels they do have a very slightly narrower range compared to the B1.2 which is of 5.6 to 7.4cm, which may just be something to keep in mind if you have particularly narrow set eyes.

With the use of the superior low light performance of this fantastic set, you can see the fantastic things that are happening in the dark. While the extra magnification does reduce the field of view, the images are still relatively stable compared to higher magnification alternatives such as 15x or 20x binos. As such, you can still expect fairly stable images even if you handhold the binos. This makes the 12×50’s ideal for astronomy, looking for prey, or long-range shooting applications, especially if you don’t have a tripod. Features to Consider When Choosing the Best 12×50 Binoculars I was also impressed with the very small amount of vignetting / softness right at the edges of the view (almost non existent), which in my experience is also about as good as it gets. The Celestron 71363 is very versatile in terms of eye relief and is suited for both eyeglass wearers and people who don’t need eyeglasses, as the eyecups are sturdy and flexible at the same time and offer great resistance compared to other similar products. Color fringing generally becomes more obvious the higher the image/view is magnified and as such I was half expecting to notice that these 12x50's would not be quite as good as the 10x42 B1.2 which are truly excellent in this area.
