About this deal

The good news for the Zeus Elite is that there is fairly little roll-off in the low end. There is roll-off below 40 Hz, but above that, everything is audible. That’s quite good for the category.

HarmonicDyne Zeus Open-Back Headphone Review - Major HiFi

There is just a little bit of honkyness and shoutiness associated with a dip in the upper midrange, as those notes were felt farther from me and lesser in their intensity, shape and texture. Apart from scale that wasn’t as grand and to the dip in the upper midrange, there is little to complain about these. Detail and resolution could put to shame headphones costing more and the same can be said about the rest of its technicalities. The unboxing experience with Poseidon really makes you feel that you have something special in your hands. Reactions to the inclusion of wood veneer on the sides of the band are varied (and some folks feel it looks ‘cheap’) but I find it to be a decent match for the cups and fairly attractive. So, here are the photos., and one more thing. Someone "out there" said this Gear is a '"V" shape. And that is absolutely not a fact... That is a fiction.

Comfort

I think it is important to note that the Story and Mission statements of Linsoul declare that they do not solely strive for products with the highest sound quality. Rather they refer to a combination of sound quality and visual style. It seems the aesthetic appeal of their products is as important as how they sound. Zeus Specifications

The midrange inherits significant warmth and some colour from the bass. Fortunately, there’s still adequate clarity so vocals and instruments don’t sound smeared or dull. Zeus’ tonality lends itself really well to male vocals and string instruments. Female vocals and electric guitars don’t have the same lustre but they’re textured yet inoffensive. Sounds in the treble can often come off as smeared or imprecise. This is common among headphones at this price range but not desirable. Overall, Zeus felt as a more technical sounding headphone, unearthing a higher level of detail while also sounding bigger and wider on all axes, it had more information up top that would further increase the perception of more air around the notes and of a higher detail retrieval.

Comfort : Extremely comfortable headphones. Would be moreso but the strap is metal and the cups are dense wood which all adds up to a touch of weight. At over 400 grams (without cable), all that metal and wood adds up to a heavy headphone, especially for a dynamic driver. Unfortunately, the minimal synthetic leather padding on the bottom of the band isn’t quite sufficient to offset the weight. You certainly feel the weight after a long listening session. Detail: At first I thought the detail is nothing special in comparison to the Nighthawks or any of my headphones, probably because the bass texture was similar and that confused me. But they are indeed pretty good. Not as good as a HD580 but very close. This is the only real comparison I have detail wise. In general though you can expect to get a good amount of detail here. Applying a 1/12 smoothing, I am getting this graph and as you can see, the sub-bass is good, mid-bass is absolutely perfect clearly standing out, midrange is mostly linear but it sees a gentle slope until upper-midrange is hit with a roll-off. Treble is calm and relaxed in the most sensitive part (between 4 and 6 kHz) and immediately after that it gets higher momentum and becomes much stronger and defined. There is a lot of presence in the top octave that gives an impression of a detailed and transparent sound. As you can see, Zeus was tuned towards an enjoyable experience, in detriment of a super-linear, super extended frequency response. Upper bass absolutely slaps - like hitting me with a bullet train. Believer by Imagine Dragons is like a dragon slapping your ears I love it.

The first thing that I noticed with the midrange is that it is relatively forward sounding compared to the rest of the frequency spectrum. While already being forward, there is a small injection of euphony to the midrange, allowing vocals to have a measured amount of richness. After the splitter, the cable is larger in diameter and covered in braided cloth that may be a bit stiffer, but still soft enough to not get in the way. You must return an item in the same condition as it was received. You must also include, in the same condition as it was received: If it is plastic sealed when you get it, it should remain plastic sealed. Some types of goods such as CIEMs and custom cables cannot be returned. The Phoenix has more sub-bass reach and has more physical rumble. Its mid-bass is also more pronounced, relative to the midrange which sounds more recessed compared to the Zeus. Male vocals are leaner but less intimate on the Phoneix while female vocals and electric guitars are lifted. This section is going to be very reminiscent of my Helios review, as the basic design and materials of the Zeus are a recycle of the Helios. The walnut wooden cups are the standout feature and are smoothly and perfectly finished. The walnut wood cups are perfectly manufactured. Midrange.: This is the honey pot. This is the end of the rainbow regarding this Gear. This is a mids dominated sonic treat. This is what you want in your Arya, and your HD800, but you didnt get it, and those are fine products. But THIS is a : "sounds like a British company made it"....Its almost too harmonically complex, actually.
