About this deal

With a narrative that is so grounded in reality that you might think you're reading it straight from the newspaper! However, DS Warwick is too much of a saint and the plot is a lot thinner than the best of Mr Archer's work. This is a very uncommon issue with his books- usually, I'm hooked in the first chapter and can't put it down, all the way back to Kane and Abel, one of my first favorite modern fiction novels years ago. An issue that arose with one of William Warwick's colleague will have me reading the next book sooner than I anticipated!

But if the painting turns out to be the original, Faulkner will have made a fool of us a second time, and in the most public of arenas. Although the characters are lovable there is one, the great Sir Julian, that shows some racism and even prejudice against women. I enjoyed the characters of this book and I could see myself reading more about DCI Warwick and his darling wife. My Review - Let me start the review of this book by saying that this isn’t a standalone novel, even though the publisher/author have mentioned it in the starting. If I remember correctly, the Boat Race takes place between Putney and Mortlake, so he’d be back on the beat. William Warwick is determined to finally bring Miles Faulkner to justice for the crime he has committed in the art world, for which he escaped serving a prison sentence. While some are recurring characters, there are a handful of strong one-timers, all of whom keep the reader entertained throughout. He looked as if he’d stepped straight off the set of a popular television police drama, rather than just arrived from the Regional Crime Squad. They have two sons, William and James, three grandsons and two granddaughters, and divide their time between homes in London, Cambridge and Mallorca.

Large amounts of heroin have made its way into London, a drug that has crippled 1986 England and sent waves throughout the Metropolitan Police. It was a little slow to start, but suddenly came alive and as with all Archer books there's a lot going on and its very exciting throughout.Expectations were high but the weekend arrived and the next thing I know I’ve arrived at the end of the book!

Hidden in Plain Sight is the second brilliant and captivating novel featuring William Warwick by the master storyteller and bestselling author of the Clifton Chronicles, Jeffrey Archer. It has always been evident in the author’s earlier works, and this book is no different, that the author draws on his personal experiences for some of these storylines. I liked this second instalment of the William Warwick series more than the first and I have a feeling that each book is going to get better and better. I was frustrated that a villain gets always his way and makes William Warwick and his team look like fools at times! This new series, which is actually the collection of writing referenced repeatedly throughout the Clifton Chronicles, may be set in the 1980s, but can easily hold the attention of the dedicated thriller fan. And so, on the big day, the only thing that can - and does - disrupt their happy day comes in the form of William’s nemesis, Malcolm Faulkner. The adventures that were started in the first book, Nothing Ventured, will continue in the second book, Hidden in Plain Sight.

Plot Summary - William Warwick has been promoted to Detective Sergeant, but his promotion means that he, along with the rest of his team, has been reassigned to the Drugs Squad.

You were about to tell us, sir, before DC Adaja joined us, how the new unit will differ from any other existing drugs squads. With Jeffrey Archer’s trademark twists and turns Hidden in Plain Sight is the extraordinary sequel to Nothing Ventured, the first novel featuring Detective William Warwick. Characters' interactions with one another and with the world around them offer the context that humanises them beyond their roles as lawbreakers or law enforcers. Faulkner cries foul and does anything he can to keep the changes from sticking, though the prosecutorial team is none other than Sir Julian and Grace Warwick, the father and sister duo of our beloved William. Both story lines were interesting but you would go from one investigation to another to a glimpse in Warwick's private life on the same page.
