About this deal

Inspired by the characters of the all-time classic Winnie the Pooh, Hoff shows how the beloved Pooh-bear is actually a Taoist, simple-minded but not stupid, appreciates and accepts life situations as they come. The Taoist master is in contrast with the Clever Rabbit who often over-thinks to the point of confusion, the Scholarly Academian Owl who learns intellectually and indirectly through books, and the Emotional Eeyore who likes to complain pessimistically and frets about existence. The charming characters were intended as metaphor for the human nature, as Hoff mentioned: “within each of us there is an Owl, a Rabbit, and Eeyore, and a Pooh. For too long, we have chosen the way of Owl and Rabbit.” Benjamin Hoff’s Tao of Pooh looks like a children’s book but, in reality, it contains complex philosophical ideas. The Tao of Pooh Lessons The novel’s central character is the protagonist of the Winnie-the-Pooh books and, according to Benjamin Hoff, a model Taoist sage. But Pooh teaches us that emptiness can clean out our messy minds and recharge the batteries of spiritual energy. What makes me rate this book highly are the excerpts from AA Milne's original books showing how funny those were and how distinctive each character was, plus some representations of the original illustrations by EH Shepard, and selections from the writings of Chuang-tse.

This isn’t the right way to behave. As a matter of fact, Benjamin Hoff claimed that the feeling of emptiness is a wake-up call that should encourage us to change. It’s a moment of confusion that should impel us to search for what gives us meaning. Things just happen in the right way, at the right time. At least they do when you let them, when you work with circumstances instead of saying, “This isn’t supposed to be happening this way,” and trying hard to make it happen some other way. It's not only old and new readers of my books that I have not received forwarded mail from. I have received no
