The camera supports three kinds of storage mediums and recordings. RLC-820A can record by scheduled recording, motion detection, and continuous recording. Two other things mitigate against getting a good DORI (Detect, Observe, Recognise, Identify) result, if the camera's purpose is other than recording an overview scene - Furthermore, the RLC-520A also relies on the 5-megapixel sensor and the 2560 x 1920 (Super HD) resolution to give you a crystal clear look not only during the day, but also during the night (the IR vision can go up to 100 feet before some noise creeps in). And if that sounds an awful lot like the Reolink RLC-510A, well, it’s because they’re essentially the same device, but with a different skin. Reolink Windows App – Camera Setup Reolink Windows App – Camera Network Settings Reolink Windows App – Camera Settings It is also a PoE camera, but their difference lies in the sensors. The RLC-820A has an integrated 1/2.48 CMOS sensor, while the RLC-822A utilises a 1/2.8 CMOS sensor.

Set Up:

When we played the recorded footage, we were surprised that it captured the fine details in high definition. The image quality was crystal-clear and impressive. Plus, we did not notice anything low-quality since the files were not software-compressed. The solid housing and body of the RLC-820A are also waterproof. It works excellently in and out of the house in any weather condition. Hands-free Control Step 4. Once the camera is installed, you can adjust the angle up and down 70 degrees or 360 degrees horizontally. I am running it on single stream mode, then I noticed if I changed the transport protocol from Auto to UDP it works perfect.

The 18 infrared lights also worked like Reolink claimed, allowing the RLC-820A to deliver high-quality images at night. It gave us a view of up to 30m, and we could see every detail visible in daytime shots. Aside from that, there was minimal noise, thanks to the 3D-DNR technology. Staying in the app, these are the settings you can expect to be faced with: Reolink App Camera Settings All these additional elements have made the RLC-520A a bit taller than the RLC-520, but, at its 4.13 x 3.74 inches (10.5 x 9.5 cm), it won’t really matter that much, especially since it will most likely end up being mounted outdoors. I am not entirely sure whether the extra-ruggedness was truly needed, but it’s definitely a welcomed addition. The IP66 rating is still there, so the camera will survive in case it’s targeted by powerful jets of water (powerful storms) and it’s also dust-proof. I doubt that you can put the RLC-520A on a pole, so it’s far more protected against lightning strikes than other devices, but I would still take all the necessary precautions to make sure your camera will survive a lightning storm (add some surge protectors). To set up the camera, you need to connect the camera to a PoE switch/injector for network connection. After that, you may finish the initial setup via both Reolink App and the Client. While writing our Reolink RLC-820A 4K PoE Camera Review, we also noticed the design of this camera. It has a similar build and design as the RLC-822A, so you can expect it to have a minimalist aesthetic. Its motion detection feature was accurate and did not fail too. We tested this over a week, and it did not send any unnecessary notifications. The IR seems more spread out on the 820A, but brighter and more centered on the 833A. Which makes sense, due to the 833A having 2 IR LEDs vs the 820A having 18. This also isn't a great example location since the center of the frame is pointed at the ground.... would be interesting to see it when pointed more outward horizontally, but I'm not doing that much work lol. x Hikvision DS-2CD2347G1-LU/GREY 2.8mm 30m visible light - low light camera with built in mic - ColorVu To make the camera work, you need to use the PoE Switch (IEEE 802.3af, 48V Active) or DC Power (DC 12V1 /2A) to power on the camera. I like that you have the ability to toggle on or off the recording functions as well as the IR lights etc. As someone on facebook mentioned to me, they’re into Astrophotography (as am I) so to be able to turn off the IR lights was key. I also like that the motion trigger is accessible. It means that I can access that in Home-Assistant or Node-red and use that sensor to trigger other things.
