About this deal

Gman landed on Iax. Ku'gath has sent a spy into Gman's strategy briefing in the form tattleslug, a demon slug which crawled into the mouth on an Imperial officer. Ewwwww Everyone's talking about if it's bullshit that Emps could really do so much damage right in Nurgle's garden (not even the other Chaos gods can just barge right into the center of another god's realm), so here's the excerpt and you can judge for yourself. Gman still can't recall the full conversation between him and the Emperor even though it's days until he emerged from the throne room. Trajan insisted he saw and hear nothing but light and Gman saying something in a serene manner. Very different from Gman's own recollection of falling to the ground and begging his father The only reason that this isn't getting a one star review is because of Banks' performance and a few scenes that were the novel's saving grace. An example would be a conversation about Godhood that Guilliman has with a few choice characters very early in the novel. Another would be the daemons. Although I'm not really a fan of Haley's humorous approach to the Nurglite characters, you could tell he still had passion while writing their scenes and plot lines.

Technically speaking then, The Devastation of Baal probably also fits into the timeline at some point after the events of the Dark Imperium books (now that they’re being adjusted to take place earlier on in the crusade) and The Great Work …but for the sake of ease I’ve included it here. The vast majority of what I’ve mentioned so far has shown events from an Imperial viewpoint, but there are a few books which take a look from different perspectives as well. These are all set after the Great Rift has taken place. The high stakes, the unique setup, and the fact that two Primarchs got to duke it out mano-a-daemono all make Iax the perfect setting for the first narrative play Battle Report on Warhammer+. The sequel to The Emperor’s Legion , this takes a similar approach and features two of the three main characters from its predecessor. The Regent in the title refers to Guilliman, and the Primarch’s absence – and the void left behind – is very much at the core of this excellent, politics-heavy story. Two disturbing trains of thoughts were considered. Even if the Emperor was a man, the faith of trillions over the past 10,000 years might have changed his nature. And with people starting to believe in Gman himself, is he on his own way to demigodhood? Maybe the miracles we are seeing these past books might not be the Emperor but manifestations of peoples' faith in Gman? The Eldar also seems to indicate there are Gods more eldritch and terrible than even the C'tan.

To answer this threat, Guilliman launches the Indomitus Crusade, the greatest mustering of military might seen in more than 10 millennia. Yet Mortarion , the Daemon Primarch of the Death Guard, has set his infernal sights upon the Ultramar System, forcing the Lord Commander to take leave of the Indomitus Crusade to lead the defence of his homeworlds. After Plague War didn't feature as much of the Gulliman introspection I loved so much in Dark Imperium, I was delighted to see it return in full force for Godblight. He may have a rod up his arse, and is kind of a nerd, but goddamn it, I -love- Gulliman. His relationship with his soldiers, his brothers, and most importantly, The Emperor, are all fantastic to behold, and of the three books of the Dark Imperium trilogy, this easily paints the best picture of the Last Son of the Emperor. It's the throwdown you've been waiting for, as Guilliman and Mortarion work out 10,000 years of pent-up resentment in a clash for the ages. Footsteps halted by his head. There was a poke on the breastplate of the Armour of Fate. Guilliman heard Mortarion speak, but he could not see, and he could sense nothing else but pain. My father is no god. It is men who do His work for Him, as I must now. He uses people. He always has.'Godblight isn’t just about primarch versus primarch action, as we continue to explore the effect that the Emperor himself may or may not be having on the galaxy, and chronicle the beginning of the war between the dark gods… Throughout both books there were minor tweaks to bring these things into line. As you’d expect, there are far more alterations to Dark Imperium than to Plague War .
