The competition is open to pupils from years 7-9 and you will work as part of a team (between 4 and 6 in a team) In the activity children have to come up with a design for their own roller coaster, which they can then build with straws, pipe cleaners, and some other common arts and crafts materials. Because of friction, your marble will always need to start slightly higher than the very top of the loop. Otherwise, it will never have enough energy to make it through the loop without stopping.
