About this deal

Thai pink milk evokes happy memories of hubby's childhood. This sweet, refreshing drink is at the heart of many of his stories of growing up as a young boy in Thailand. So it's only natural that he would want to share this drink with our children. Jump to: Hale’s Blue Boy is at the center of many celebrated Thai drinks. Since 1959, the syrup brand has been producing flavored liquid sugar in traditional Thai flavors like sala (palm fruit) and mali (jasmine) as well as Western-inspired flavors like cream soda. The brand also carries a grape, pineapple, strawberry, root beer, rose, and cantaloupe flavor -- though you’ll be hard pressed to find these among Thais. The three most iconic flavors are most definitely dang, which translates to red and is the sala flavor; kieow, meaning green and referring to the cream soda flavor, and mali, or jasmine. Move over boring old milk, because Thailand has a bright and colourful alternative! Nom Yen, translated to “pink milk” in Thai, is a delicious sweet treat that’s sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. But what makes it so pink, you ask? The secret lies in the addition of sala syrup, a synthetic blend of the fruit sala, sugar, and water that gives it a vibrant red hue. The serum is then combined with a mixture of evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk to make it pink. If all you have is condensed milk and or evaporated milk you can still make a tasty drink. All you need to do is increase the amounts of condensed milk and evaporated milk. This eye-catching Thai drink is not only visually appealing with the perfect shade of pink, and its sweet and creamy taste is incredibly satisfying, especially on a hot day.

In a small cup or measuring jug, mix together the sweetened condensed milk with the evaporated milk and set aside. Evaporated Milk: Evaporated milk is used as the base milk of this drink. If you don't have evaporated milk available, regular cow's milk would likely work as a substitute. Measure in 1-part sala syrup, ½- part condensed milk, and 1-part evaporated milk into the glass and stir well to combine.Isn't it obvious that this drink is perfect for Valentine's Day, dates, wedding anniversaries and also other special occasions for many reasons? Not only is the color so fitting, but nom yen is so good and easy to make!

This strawberry protein overnight oats is incredibly high in protein and fiber and will start off your morning right! 💪 Hot Water: Hot water makes easier work of dissolving the syrup and sweetened condensed milk. Room temperature water would also work with a little more stirring. Please note that Zulay Kitchen sent me product to facilitate this post, but all opinions are my own. #Sponsored Traditionally, nom yen is made with warm water, sweetened condensed milk and evaporated milk. In this recipe, I've limited the ingredients to only 2-3 items to make it very easy and "healthier." But don't worry, there's no compromise on taste here. You can also just use regular sala syrup or strawberry syrup if you prefer. Enjoy! Remove from the fridge when ready to eat. Top with sliced strawberries or other berries and a dollop of Greek style yogurt if desired. Then enjoy!Making Thai pink milk is ridiculously easy.As with many other Thai drinks, Thai pink milk is better with ice, especially crushed ice. So I suggest you prepare some ice too. You can make crushed ice using a blender or food processor. If you want to crush it the Thai way, you can put some ice in a bag and smash it with a pestle! Image above. Our many flavors of Cha Yen (cold tea) from my Thailand trip this last April. These cold drinks are excellent for cooling off in the Thai humidity!
