About this deal

The front camera of the Nokia XR21 has a 16-MP resolution, but since it uses pixel binning, the resulting pictures have a resolution of only 4.1 MP. The pictures are fairly decent and able to impress with an attractive image composition. But the sharpness could have turned out a bit higher. Videos are only recorded in Full HD at 30 FPS, and fast movements can also result in some visible streaking. The police have emphasised our right to peacefully assemble and guaranteed ample opportunities for dialogue during the course of the event. They have assured us there will be no surprises for attendees at The Big One. The first test I did was the water test, to see how the XR21 would work after being 'accidentally' dropped in water, whether it's a pool, the sea or the kitchen sink.

John Walker & Sons XR 21 is a very special offering, indeed. All whiskies in this blend are 21 years or older. Forget the diminutive “Johnnie.” With this sleek (and expensive) offering, it’s “John” to you and me. Appearance The Nokia XR21's main competitors are other mid-range non-rugged smartphones, such as the Samsung Galaxy M53 and the OPPO Find X6 Pro. These phones offer similar performance and features, but they aren't as tough as XR21. VerdictThere’s also space for two nano-SIM cards and HMD Global engineers judiciously added two rapid access buttons and an eSIM. The 6.49-inch display has a 120Hz refresh rate and 550 nits of brightness, and there's two rear cameras, a 64-megapixel and eight megapixel. Another plus feature for me was its battery life, after setting up and testing out its features over a couple of days I only needed to pop it on charge once. Even so, it didn't run completely out of battery I just decided to give it a boost midway through. Compared to my current phone I'd say the Nokia XR21 wins here. I was hesitant, just the thought of dropping a brand new phone into water, but out of all the tests it was one I was sure would work. Having previously dropped my iPhone 10 to the bottom of a swimming pool on holiday two years before I stopped using it I was sure the Nokia XR21 would be fine.

Within the rather substantial bottle, you will find a whisky with a golden appearance that takes on a deep vermilion hue depending on the lighting (thanks, in part, to artificial coloring). Frankly, it’s worth mentioning that the whisky in my glass appears quite a bit more gold when compared with advertisements online that remind me of burnished copper. Nose Of its predecessor, the XR20, I said that “Nokia hits the right notes with its attempt to bring rugged to the mainstream with the XR20. It does so in style with 5G connectivity, a large screen and a sleek design, miles away from traditional rugged smartphones.” The 6.5-inch screen is bright, smooth and crisp. While only a Full-HD resolution, it works remarkably well on the size phone - it’s great for watching some Netflix with breakfast. My dad, a dedicated Apple fanboy, had a play with it and even he admitted that the screen looks the business. Echoing the halcyon days of the Nokia 3310, sans Snake (RIP, king), one of biggest sells of the XR21 is battery life. Laughing in the face of high-end smartphones, the XR21 can keep you powered for two days - though my testing suggests you can eke that out even further. Recent history is full of examples of the power of people power … of your power. Here are just a few: Epifanio de los Santos Avenue, Manila, February 1986; Wenceslas Square, Prague, November 1989; Maidan Square, Kyiv, November 2004.XR has a reputation, we get that. But this time the primary aim is to get the attention of the Government, not to target disruption at the public.

In 1920, whisky crater Alexander Walker II received a knighthood from King George V for his services to the nation and his devotion to creating exceptional whiskies. The Johnnie Walker and Sons XR 21 was created to honour this very special occasion. Be this as it may, don’t expect the vanilla and caramel flavor that accompanies a high percentage of first fill casks. In the XR, I catch more second and third fill flavors on the palate. These are quite enjoyable, though not what I would characterize as “overly ambitious” in terms of complexity. Two-day battery life is promised from the Nokia XR21’s 4,800mAh battery, which will maintain over 80% of its capacity after 800 charging cycles. That’s 60% more than the XR20, apparently. The battery testing was conducted using a real-life usage test by HMD Global. The test included active usage of a device for 5 hours per day with a new battery. Usage included e.g. gaming, video streaming, calling, sending SMS, browsing and using apps (such as social media, news, navigation and music). The test was conducted with normal device settings in a lit indoor environment. The device was left on standby overnight. The world of whisky making was very different one hundred and fifty years ago. To offer a sense of perspective, at that time, grain whisky had only been around for thirty-four years. Thanks to the relatively new and ingenious invention of Aeneas Coffey, the inventor of the eponymous “Coffey” or continuous still, new products beyond single malt were now possible to be made. Yes, we are talking about a time in the distant past when grain alcohol was considered innovative, especially if it was blended with single malt for flavor and consistency. They have affirmed our right to peacefully protest outside government buildings in April and thanked us for our early engagement. We have confirmed our shared need: to ensure no significant harm comes to anyone.

This year’s model has an even tidier design that looks, at least at first glance, rather like a normal non-rugged phone – albeit with a chunkier shell. Make no mistake, though, this one is indeed ‘life-proof’, with a 100% recycled aluminium chassis built to a MIL-STD-810H standard. Nokia has released what it says is 'the toughest smartphone' yet. Ideal for users who are a little less careful with their handset, it's being raved about for withstanding some of the harshest conditions including water, dust, pressure, heights and supposedly even the weight of a car, so to see just how strong it is I put the Nokia XR21 to the test. On 4 November 1989 hundreds of thousands of people gathered peacefully in the Alexanderplatz in what was then East Berlin and refused to move. Five days later the Berlin Wall came down. There were no arrests. The smartphone is not only dust and waterproof according to IP68 but also offers an IP69K certification, allowing it to withstand a water stream with a pressure of 100 bars. Drops from a height of 1.8 meters (~5.9 ft) won't create any problems for the XR21. According to the MIL-STD-810H standard, it is certified against drops from a height of 1.5 meters (~4.9 ft) and can be used in temperatures between -20 and +55 °C (-4 to 131 °F). It can also be operated with wet hands or gloves. And it was, I kept the screen on as I dropped it into the water to make any potential glitches easy to see. After leaving it in the jar for around three seconds I pulled it out. The touchscreen, speaker, and microphone all work as normal after this. The strength of Nokia's XR21 handset is quite evident from the tests we've carried out so far, it can be dropped in water and the screen is crystal clear after being dropped (or thrown) onto a pebbled floor. Now it was time to see how it emerged after being driven over.
