About this deal

Better Days” gave me “Hereditary”/”Kody Blu 31” vibes. Strong instrumental and hook, jazz-y and peak storytelling. I didn’t expect the R&B-y Johnta Austin feature but it actually made the song a lot better. Still, JID was owning the song. Right after that, JID surprises you with a rather aggressive beat full of 808s with very strong bars referencing, especially concerning racism and discrimination and his former self as a football player. Born and raised in East Atlanta, JID grew up on his parents’ collection of classic funk/soul LPs, and broke onto the scene with his 2015 EP, DiCaprio. The EP saw him collaborating with hip-hop duo EARTHGANG, whom he’d previously joined on a 2014 tour also including Bas and Ab-Soul. This is where he was spotted by J.Cole who promptly signed JID to his Interscope Records venture, Dreamville Records. JID's highly anticipated sophomore album, The Forever Story, presents his reality: a more personal look into his familial life and stories of growing up the last of seven and a student athlete in East Atlanta. JID's nimble, head-nodding lyricism and lightning-fast flow is presented throughout the album with immersive storytelling and thoughtful guest features - all spotlighting his rightful place in rap as one of the greatest in the making.

The Forever Story is JID’s third studio album, following his critically-acclaimed 2018 sophomore album, DiCaprio 2. JID first gave word of this project on August 27, 2019 in a series of tweets hinting to October as a release for new music. He said that he was “depressed,” leading him to want to drop something. Money” is honestly not one of my favorite songs, probably because of its rather childish beat and hook, it’s not a bad song though. The single “Dance Now” works pretty well in the album, it’s like an anthem, a right JID anthem with an addictive vocal sample from an old Jewish song, telling a story that couldn’t have been told better.

Love JID ?

The Forever Story was supposed to be 16 songs.. 8+8= 16 if u flip the 8s to the side u have 2 infinity signs♾♾.. this was my plan 🤷🏾‍♂️.. Running with the hashtag #NEVERISFOREVER on social media in a clear ode to his previous work, promotional events for the album have included a Dolby Atmos Music Fan Experience in Los Angeles and a Pontiac G6, his old car, previewing the album early in select cities. He talked about his significant relationship with the car on “2007”: Just In Time” catches you off-guard. The features are solid but JID’s still the one carrying the song.

almost feels like a JID biography. It tells his story once again and perfectly ends the album with a spoken J. Cole outro.
