About this deal

So let’s see how the Award-Winning Audio Pro T3 Bluetooth Speaker performs when we test the Sound Quality, Design & Build Quality, Connectivity & Battery. Like we have come to expect from Audio Pro devices, you get a powerful, clear and focused sound. The balance between frequencies is spot on, the low end is punchy while the highs are crisp and the mids are able to push through with enough force. There’s plenty of energy without drowning out any details.

The Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3 is undoubtedly the best cheap Bluetooth speaker on this list, combining good sound with an ultraportable design and effective 360-degree audio. It's just a straight-up Bluetooth speaker but you can pair two of them together either in stereo or dual mono.Clearly meant to be taken to wherever the party is, it's also fully waterproof – in fact, it even floats. Being IP57 rated, it's also well protected against grit, saltwater, dust and beach-side sand, so long as you keep the USB charger cover in place. No. All Bluetooth speakers are wireless speakers but not all wireless speakers use Bluetooth as their main audio source, although most include it. This is going to become more of an issue as wireless speaker technology evolves: for all its benefits Bluetooth does have some limits when it comes to the very highest quality digital music. We've got a separate guide to the best wireless speakers, and that focuses more on home speakers with Wi-Fi.

Specification

If you’re looking for something with the same vibe as a speaker from Bang and Olufsen, but you don’t have a massive budget to play with, Audio Pro could be perfect for you. On the top of the speaker, you’ll find a row of control buttons finished in an attractive, metallic rose gold. It could do with fewer buttons in my opinion, though, as there’s not only a dedicated button for pairing the speaker with your phone, but there are also separate buttons for switching to Bluetooth and the speaker’s auxiliary connection. Do I want to be an environmentally-friendly minimalist or a bells & whistles, the more the merrier capitalist… maybe I’m thinking about this too much…

The battery life on the Audio Pro Addon T3 is incredible! 10/10! I’d go as far as saying it’s got the best battery life out of any Bluetooth speaker I’ve ever had my hands on! I’ve been testing the Marshall Acton speaker at the same time as the Addon T3 and I’m feeling confused. The Stanmore is so much fun with the AMP design, solid twist buttons and even comes with a premium coiled 3.5mm cable. The Audio Pro team has designed a unique audio signature for its Addon products. If you’ve listened to one of these devices before, you should find it awfully familiar. There’s plenty of extra bass boost and treble for those who like listening to music with lower frequencies. The engineers have transformed the acoustic design of the speaker elements to deliver impressive dynamics, given the dimensions, whatever you choose to listen to.In our testing, we were impressed by the sound quality but we really enjoyed the Outdoor Boost because it makes the audio a bit less bassy and a little more shrill. It doesn't sound better than the normal mode, clearly, but it 'cuts through' better and is a handy addition. In an emergency, you can also still charge your phone from the Wonderboom 2, as long as you have the right Micro-USB cable which I doubt many people will. The Beosound A1 v2 finds its way to the top of this list thanks to sheer audio quality for the size – we were impressed by its full, punchy sound that's fairly expansive, and that doesn't crush when going loud. That's no surprise when it comes from Bang & Olufsen, of course. And it follows B&O's usual MO of having quite a neutral sound out of the box, but you can use the app to customise the audio – we at T3 like to push up the bass of B&O's products a little, and that's so easy to do and then save as a preset. Audio Pro CCO Jens Henriksen claims the product name was chosen to indicate “the same winning concept as before, only better”. The original has undergone a few tweaks, rather than wholesale change: it keeps its pair of 2cm tweeters, split by a 9cm woofer, as well as its familiar boombox-style chassis, but carries a redesigned reflex port to the rear for optimised bass response. Made up of a 10W and 30W amplifier with a 1-inch textile dome tweeter and a 4.5-inch woofer, the speaker system is plenty powerful. It supports Apple lossless, MP3, WMA, AAC and FLAC codecs.

Audio Pro has also retuned the DSP settings, which it claims has enhanced the sonic character, but managed to keep the 30-hour battery life (at half volume; 12 hours at full volume) that has made this rugged speaker such an outdoor party favourite.Setting up the speaker for the first time with Wi-Fi is very easy, you can choose to do so with the Audio Pro Control app, Google Home or Apple Home. For the purposes of this test, I used both the Audio Pro Control app and Google Home. If you do use it outside, it has IPX2 water resistance so it’ll survive light splashes of rain, but I wouldn’t let it get too wet because it may not be able to cope with that.
