About this deal

I remember putting on his shoulder pads and his helmet, running around trying to be just like him," Porter Jr. said. it's also about the erosion of american democracy and the tremendous lure of corporate power, to which people succumb at the expense of values they hold dear -- which certainly requires a certain amount of ethical pretzling. the picture of america that emerges is nothing to laugh about. I remember as a young kid, I did one-on-ones with [ Antonio Brown] so that was a nice treat," Porter Jr. said at the NFL combine. "I know he wasn't going 100%, but just to be able to line up against him was something special." Jay was the CEO of Revere, the technology-focused agency, a part of the Edelman family of companies, where he worked up the ranks during the last 16 years. Jay was universally loved and admired by his colleagues, clients, and partners for his creativity, drive and relentless optimism. He mentored countless colleagues, and was particularly committed to blazing a trail for up-and-coming LGBTQIA+ Public Relations professionals. I used to know someone who referred to some folks who fit that category as being a shark in a goldfish bowl. The problem that Jay discovers is that those type of sharks will do just about anything to maintain their sharkitude.

Jay was a brilliant writer and had a joyful wit. He was never at a loss for words, and always knew the perfect thing to say, whether to reassure someone in doubt or express his absolute joy at the births of nieces and nephews. In Jay’s home office, there is a small plaque that reads “Words tend to be inadequate.” Never has that been more true than at this moment. For a moment I consider telling him to grow up. But I am chastened by the presence of his managers. Instead I look him in the eye and tell him that I am not trying to psychoanalyse him, that his music has simply meant more to me than any other throughout my life. There is something that moves across his face but I could not name it. “Aehhh,” he breathes. Porter’s floundering without his wife is touchingly conveyed. “There are things she knew about her family, not secrets so much as hard-earned intimacies, that she inadvertently took with her, leaving the rest of them to fend for themselves in this new, foreign land, daily meeting at the kitchen table, or passing in the hallway, without their shared interpreter.”

About

This is a compelling read with a fantastic protagonist, and is more nuanced than a typical by-the-numbers detective tale. Jay is a highly sympathetic and self-aware character and is one readers are sure to root for the entire way through. He and his brother have their own demons, and their relationship is not all that perfect, yet they have a lot of love for each other. It has a true to life ending and is not one to be overlooked. Well, shall we end it there?” I say, and stand and shake his hand. As I do I look at the notepad. In the top left hand corner he has drawn an angry rectangle. Jay starts looking into Emily’s disappearance, and finds that everybody that knew Emily swear she has never used drugs. She is a straight shooter and is interning at a newspaper that is investigating the Center and the horrible secret hidden either in it or beneath it.

Jay was the bright center of a loving family. As the eldest of fourteen grandchildren, he spent his early years traveling throughout the country with his beloved grandparents. At a very young age, he started honing his perfect etiquette, his passion for travel, and his insatiable love of the written word. His parents have a treasure trove of stories about his precociousness, his kindness, and his empathy. He became a big brother at age seven, a role he was born to play. His generosity knew absolutely no bounds, and the three siblings would spend the rest of Jay’s life traversing the country to be together. His adoring parents spent most of the last year of his life at his side, and will forever be grateful for these precious and tender memories. In this particular story, Jay also finds himself caught in the middle of a mess that could be described as “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely”, along with a cautionary tale about not getting in the way of someone who gets their jollies by being a very big fish in a very small pond. He is left to raise a teenage daughter and his younger son on his own and he doubts he is up to the challenge. In response, he has virtually given up his practice in the interim.
