When plumbing does go wrong, most people think that they are in for an expensive repair that needs to be carried out by a qualified plumber. When money is tight or you simply don’t have the time to wait around for a professional to visit, this can lead to panic and worry.

If you do want to reinforce your repair, then consider buying a pipe repair kit as opposed to individual items. Kits come with both the sealing material and a bandage at a cheaper cost than when buying items individually. The repair product must work with the pipe you’re repairing. Below, we’ll give you tips for identifying types of pipes, but be aware that different repair products are suitable for different pipe materials, types and sizes. Pipes that supply drinking water require repair products designed for that use. You may see them designated for use with potable water. Additionally, you’ll need to make sure the repair is appropriate for the leak size and the amount of water pressure the pipe handles. Whatever the work time, epoxy putty will not be able to cure effectively if there is still water flowing through the pipe. Any sort of live leak with pressure and you will struggle to get an effective repair.To fix the damage, wrap the tape around the leak, covering a little bit to the left and right of the affected area.
