About this deal

The ending had a believable and interesting twist. There is something you will wonder about throughout the story and then it plays out later on. I did have a couple of questions about the end, but nothing that took away from the story.

The story soon reaches the point where the reader is put in the position where we're hesitant to trust anyone, with each chapter unravelling another secret and another lie that had me questioning my previous assumptions. Very cleverly plotted, I just had to discover where exactly the story was headed, bingeing on all the juicy and mind blowing plot twists the author masterfully prepared, finishing off with a wow ending that had my ravenous appetite for domestic psychological dramas thoroughly and absolutely satiated! This was my first read by Jenna Kernan and I'll definitely be looking into reading more of her work.I enjoy the odd Psychological Thiller as you tend to know what you are getting, so yeah you may have to suspend disbelief at some of story but I expect that with Psychological thrillers (to an extent) and this book works really well as the plot and the characters are clever and I enjoyed the suspense. He snorted. “I hope you run. Nothing I like better than flushing birds and shooting them out of the clear blue sky.” The first ¾ of the book moves at a fast clip and there were quite a few twists I didn’t see coming. My opinion seemed to change about where it was going with every chapter. But then, the book seemed to hit a speed bump. The pace of the book slowed and I felt like I could see exactly where it was going from then on. The ending was so obvious it was a real disappointment to me. And the climax was totally unbelievable. Céline adds: "Keeping the ex wife in the picture sounds quite bad. But breaking off a relationship in a conflicty way sounds really bad too. I can understand how a newer wife who’s younger and who’s quite in awe of this other sophisticated woman thinks, ‘Who am I to ban someone from seeing this person they’ve spent x amount of time with?’"

This is the third book I have read by this author. I have previously read 'The Hunted Girls' and 'The Adoption' which I would also recommend. This was a 4 out of 5 star read for me and one I definitely recommend you grab on release day … Oct 10, 2022. Add this to your spooky October thrill read list. You won’t be sorry you did. A huge thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Jess Ryder for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.Part of the allure of it and part of the challenge for me was that there are moments when we want the audience on side and then there are moments when you want the audience to question whether they are on the right side or not." If you think your partner is still holding on to feelings they have for their ex, it can cause problems in your relationship even without you realizing it. That's why communicating your thoughts and fears, no matter how awkward of a conversation it will be, is important. If your partner is still talking to their ex and it bothers you, tell them. Don't downplay your feelings or write it off as jealousy. You deserve to be in a relationship with someone who's completely present and ready for all the great new things that come with being with you. The novel has interesting twists and I like the ending. So, taking into account the story's virtues and faults, I'd say it's an average psychological thriller. The first episode of the new series released on Sunday, October 15 and further episodes are set to follow. What did you think of the opening episode of The Ex-Wife? Let us know in the comments. The book is set in London and concerns Buffy, a 61-year old actor as his third marriage breaks down and he is left with only his dog George for company in his cluttered flat off the Edgware Road. Then he meets and falls in love with Celeste, newly arrived in London from Melton Mowbray who takes a keen interest in not just Buffy, but in his ex-wives, children and step-children and sets out to meet them all. This is one I will recommend to anyone that loves thrill books with a complex mystery to solve. As long as you can handle the tension that builds including the above mentioned triggers, this is not one to miss.

I loved the way Jess used the present story of “Anna” on the run to counterbalance where we were at in the main story. We know SOMETHING happened that led to a life on the run, but getting there is the fun part. Here’s everything you need to know about The Ex-Wife. There’s a chance they’re saying or doing things that make you feel this way. But it's also a telling sign if you bring this up to your partner and they brush off your concerns. As psychotherapist Tess Brigham, the “Millennial Therapist,” tells Bustle, “If you approach your partner and tell them how you feel and they dismiss your feelings and tell you that you're crazy, that alone is telling you something. It doesn't matter if your partner is swearing up and down they are over their ex; you want to focus on why you don't feel comfortable in this relationship.” When it comes to parental rights, money alone doesn't mean you will get to keep the kids. Money doesn't mean you can just take away someone else's biological child, the legal system just doesn't work like that. It's also really difficult to make the case that someone is an unfit parent, bar substance abuse or violence to the child then access would likely be allowed. I will be reading more from Jess Ryder, and I hope other readers find her book as captivating as I did!

Kudos to Jess Ryder for writing this gripping psychological thriller that I just couldn't put down! Highly Recommend This book was well-written with some twists and turns along the way. This was an interesting and fast paced read. Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own. Although, I did guess one of the plot twists, the others were a pleasant surprise. Not all of the characters are likable in this book which worked perfectly for the plot. As I learned more and more about the secrets, lies and motivations of some of the characters, things did begin to make more sense. In fact, I think calling these people characters is a bit of an overstatement, all they really are is plot devices since none of them act in any understandable or consistent way at all.As a relationship coach, Jenna Ponaman, CPC, ELI-MP, tells Bustle that being with someone who's still hung up on their ex is never really a good sign. “Sure, we all have our moments where we may reminisce or think of our past partners from time to time,” she says, “but if you are still at the point where your partner can’t let go of what was then, that is a sign that it’s time to take care of you.” Another gaping plot hole is the fact that this child, who is one year old if that, is already at nursery? I think almost no parent would leave a child that young at nursery and this is made all the more confusing by the fact that Tasha is unemployed. Why does she need to leave her child at nursery, she's not working? I’d describe [twists] as the deliberate misleading of the reader, encouraging them to make false assumptions and draw wrong conclusions about the narrator/s, the plot, the identity of the characters, their motivations and ambition, or how they are connected to each other. As the book progresses, the reader creates a fictional world in their own imagination and then, at a time of their choosing, the writer brings it crashing down.” a b c Hoosen, Mo (25 April 2022). "Paramount+ Announces Further Casting for UK original series 'The Ex-Wife' ". Streamr . Retrieved 14 November 2022. Jess has a gift with plot structures and twists. I was confused as to what was going on for about the first 30% of the book, but by 40% the book was just mind-blowing twist layered upon lies layered upon story developments. I was captivated! I was actually reading Jess’s blog and she has a fascinating piece about writing twists in psychological thrillers.
