A complete circle around the line takes about 24 minutes. At peak times, trains leave every four minutes, but this can be extended from 6 to 8 minutes if demand is low. This section needs to be updated. Please help update this article to reflect recent events or newly available information. ( April 2020) In the event of an evacuation alarms are both audible and visual which will assist passengers who are visually impaired or have hearing difficulties. The line is located near and around the central part of the city, and is divided by the Clyde river. In the northern side there are 8 stations, while the 7 remaining are positioned on the southern side of the river. The stations are:

In August 1977, all redundant fittings and equipment from the old system were sold at a public sale at Broomloan Works. During the 1977–1980 modernisation, two Clayton battery locomotives were used by the contractors Taylor Woodrow to haul construction trains. [23] Opening times of the Glasgow Subway have varied through the years, now open 06:30 to 23:40 Monday to Saturday and 10:00 to 18:12 on Sunday following a trial period between April 2011 and 2012 when the subway was open from 09:00–18:30.The trains lost their original plum and cream-coloured liveries, being painted red and white instead. From the 1950s the trains became all red—in a shade similar to that of London buses. During the early 1970s, trailer carriage number 41 was repainted in the original 1896 livery. A further interchange via moving walkway was installed between Buchanan Street station and Queen Street mainline station as part of the modernisation. Williams, Craig (9 February 2018). Changes in Ownership: The ownership of the Glasgow Subway has changed hands multiple times throughout its history. Initially owned by the Glasgow District Subway Company, it was nationalized in 1923 and came under the control of the Glasgow Corporation. Later, it became part of Strathclyde Passenger Transport Executive (SPTE) in 1973 and then transferred to Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) in 2007. Kinning Park: Kinning Park Station is situated close to the Glasgow Science Centre, the Riverside Museum, and the SEC (Scottish Event Campus). It is a convenient stop for visitors attending conferences, exhibitions, and concerts. With over 1.8 million passengers each year, this is the third busiest station in the system. It serves the historical University of Glasgow. We want what you want. This city needs a world-class Subway system. That's what our passengers deserve. I realise an extension won't come cheap and we still have lots of hurdles to overcome but, in my view, what the public wants, the public should get. This is a ringing endorsement from the people who would use the extended Subway. [39]

Buchanan Street: Located in the heart of Glasgow's shopping district, Buchanan Street Station is a major interchange point for various bus services. It provides convenient access to Buchanan Galleries, Royal Concert Hall, and the bustling Buchanan Street itself. In March 2016, Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) awarded contracts to Stadler and Ansaldo STS for the supply of 17 new driverless trains for the subway. [33] The first was delivered in May 2019. [34] First testing on the subway took place on 5 December 2021. [35] The first new trains were previously expected to operate in 2022.
