It doesn’t have a particularly wide gamut panel – Adobe RGB and DCI-P3 are sadly out of the equation – but that only rules out a select group of professional video editors. Large-screen productivity panels are a luxury, to be sure. If you're in the market, you'll want to select one that offers more than just a big screen, and thanks to the UltraSharp 43's unique input options, it fits the (enormous) bill. Adjustability: Ideally, you want a monitor on a stand that can rise/sink, pivot, swivel and tilt. You can make do with a cheaper, less adjustable stand if you’re prepared to wedge books or similar underneath, but it’s nowhere near as convenient or stable as a proper stand. Most users won't notice input lag, which is the time it takes for the display to react to a command, but hardcore gamers consider it a key factor and typically seek out the fastest models (lowest lag time) available. The fastest monitor we've seen has an input lag of less than a millisecond, but for everyday apps, you can get by with 20ms to 25ms before lag becomes a noticeable problem. More common than true desktop touch screens, though, are portable touch-screen monitors, both for general-purpose use and for graphic artists. (See our guide to portable monitors.) General Use/Multimedia Monitors Business monitors usually offer ergonomic stands that can be adjusted for maximum comfort. Often, they'll offer pivot adjustability, which lets you rotate the screen 90 degrees for viewing in portrait mode. Look for a monitor with an auto-rotate feature that flips the image for you when you change the orientation. Other business-centric features include a generous (three- or four-year) warranty with an overnight exchange service, built-in USB ports, and an aggressive recycling program. HDR: High dynamic range can have a huge impact on the colours and shades of your favourite game or movie. You’ll see a lot of 1440p gaming monitors with DisplayHDR 400 certifications (or similar) – this is the most basic form of HDR available. Size and resolution: On a 24-inch screen, 1080p resolution (1920×1080 pixels) looks reasonably sharp, and text and images should be large enough for most people to see without straining their eyes. Taller monitors, with a 1920×1200 resolution, can provide more usable screen space without an increase in footprint. While both the Dell Alienware AW2523HF and the ViewSonic XG2431 are both impressive for gaming, you can also get the high-end Dell Alienware AW2524H if you're a dedicated competitive gamer. It'sonly something to get if you're going to take full advantage of it, as it has a higher 500Hz refresh rate than the AW2523HF, but it has a few extra perks for competitive gaming.Besides the refresh rate, one big difference with the AW2524H is that ithas native G-SYNC support, which makes it fully compatible with NVIDIA graphics cards. The Lenovo ThinkVision M14d doesn't have the range of controls of some other portable displays, and its 14-inch screen isn't the largest among portable monitors. But it's bright, features high color fidelity, can be tilted to a wide range of angles, and is very light and easy to transport. Its color accuracy (96% of sRGB) is much better than that of most portable panels we have reviewed. The screen cabinet rests on a hinged base on which the ports and controls reside, and you can tilt the screen away from you at any angle you desire, down to flat. Connectors include two USB-C ports, including one that supports USB Power Delivery as well as DisplayPort over USB-C. And it has a 16:10 aspect ratio to match the squarer screens of late-model laptops. (Lenovo's ThinkVision m14, without the "d," adheres to a wider 16:9 format.) Who It’s For This is a 1440p monitor with a VA panel that boasts a 1ms G2G response time, a 240Hz refresh rate and HDR 600 support (complete with rudimentary local dimming). It’s sensationally bright – topping out at just under the stated 600 nits in our tests – and produces an equally impressive contrast ratio. As you’d imagine, gaming on this thing is a delight: 1440p at 240Hz might not always be possible but you’ll consistently benefit from the vivid colours, impressive HDR (for the price) and the aggressive, immersive 1000R curvature. There’s also very little ghosting, something many VA panels struggle with. Desktop computer monitors generally fall between 19 and 43 inches measured diagonally, although users with extra-large desks can choose among ultrawide displays in sizes up to 49 inches. Some displays are smaller than 19 inches; they're either specialty panels (such as those intended for use with a Raspberry Pi) or USB-connected portable displays meant to be carried alongside laptops. The EV2795 also has a huge number of ports. Alongside two HDMI 2 ports and one DP 1.4 port, you’ll also find three USB-A 3.1 ports (plus a USB-B 3.1 port to power them) and two USB-C 3.1 ports, one of which can be used to create a daisy-chain with a second USB-C monitor. Of course, you’d expect as much at this price.

If you're looking for the best 24-inch monitor and you need something simple that won't cost much, there are plenty of options that you can get from different retailers, but most don't offer anything special. If you want decent performance, consider something like the ASUS VG246H. It doesn't have many gaming features like the ViewSonic XG2431, as it's limited to a 75Hz refresh rate, but it's at least good for office work.It offers outstanding ergonomics, including swivel adjustments with 90 degrees in either direction, meaning it's incredibly easy to adjust, which is ideal if you want to buy two of them to place side-by-side. It also has wide viewing angles that keep the image consistent from the sides, so you can easily share your screen with someone else. Its good reflection handling is useful if you want to use it in a room with a few lights, but it doesn't get bright enough to fight glare from bright light sources. Despite its low price, it has a color-accurate sRGB mode, so images look life-like without calibration.
