About this deal

One thing I would have liked from these racquets is a slightly softer feel, more towards the IG Radicals. But that is my personal taste. Today, we are going to talk all about the HEAD Radical 27 and why you need it! We have got everything covered for you, from the benefits to the downfalls, and why it needs to be on your wish list for tennis essentials. Whilst Sue agreed, “I love the colour. It would take a bit of time getting used to.. having something so bright in my hand, but at least you can see it hitting the ball.” Jason - "This is the best playing Radical MP in a few generations. Its playability is comparable to the Babolat Pure Strike 16x19."

Zeljko - "This Graphene 360+ Radical Pro is softer and more flexible than the Graphene 360 Radical Pro. It's also way more maneuverable, and I have more control. Compared to the Head Graphene 360+ Extreme Tour, it has less access to spin, but I can feel the ball way better and have a lot more control."While views varied slightly on serves, our playtesters thought the Head Radical MP 2021 offered the qualities needed to close out service games successfully. Chris had no issues settling into a nice, consistent serve. He said, "I was getting enough power on my serves with the Radical MP 2021 that I never felt like I had to work too hard. I'm not the biggest server, but my first serves had the pace needed to draw errors from the returner. I could even sneak in some aces with my slice serves wide on the deuce side. I was happy with the spin I was getting on my second serves, and I found I could keep the pace up and still maintain consistency." The new Radicals are revealed. For this HEAD Radical 2023 Review, I have tested the HEAD Radical Auxetic MP and Pro. HEAD RADICAL 2023 REVIEW They are not much in terms of difference between the Auxetic and the 360+. Perhaps the feel is a tad softer, but they are similar enough that it will be hard for most players to tell the difference. The Radical is what HEAD calls the “people’s racquet.” Why? Because this racquet is a versatile, middle-ground racquet that works for many players at the intermediate to advanced level. The MP is relatively easy to use with a focus on control, while the Pro is more for the advanced aggressive striker. I felt like the Auxetic tech has slightly altered the feel of most of the racquets in the HEAD line-up. But the change is subtle and you need to really focus on feeling it.

The Radicals offer a nice balance between control, stability, spin and power. They are more on the control spectrum and require you to be able to create your own power. Anna-Lena, however, never felt 100 percent comfortable at net. She said, "As volleys are not my preferred shot, I need a racquet that supports me. I didn't find that in the Radical MP 2023. The MP offered a great feel if I hit the ball right in the middle of the stringbed, but I felt like I was missing the sweetspot most of the time." Serves - Score: 84

I was impressed with the stability of the new Radical MP up at net considering it's a low 11-ounce racquet," added Jason. "The Radical MP 2023 provided enough pop and power to put away overheads and sitter volleys. The one downside here was the feel. This version felt more muted than its predecessor, so I didn't feel as connected to my shots." Serves with the Head Graphene 360+ Radical Pro brought out some mixed results from the playtesters. Two playtesters found it to be their favorite shot. Jaye said, "I had an instant connection with this racquet, and I could really feel exactly how the ball was coming off the strings and where it was going to land. This is a trait I don't find often in racquets, so it was definitely a pleasure to play with. If I needed to win one point to win a match and I was serving, this is the racquet I'd choose." Mark went into even more detail, saying, "Although I felt pretty effective playing with the Radical Pro anywhere on the tennis court, I felt it fit my serve's path better than most other racquets in memory. I have been known to complain about preferring a heavier racquet on serve and a lighter racquet for groundstrokes. With this racquet's head-light balance and 11.7-ounce strung weight, I actually come pretty close to having my cake and eating it too." Featuring a variety of innovations, from the Auxetic Sensation to feel every shot you take to enlarged power grommets to increase your string movement to the max and boost your power at every shot you make. Explore the aerodynamic cross-section and transform your swing along with the control you need to play to precision. Justin wasn't the only person to note the positives of the added weight. Mark added, "Inside the service box was another area on the court where the new Graphene 360+ Radical Pro's 5-gram increase in weight translated to better stability, allowing me to produce some great volleys. With its speed-inducing 6-points-head-light balance, the timing of a volley was never an issue for me."

Austin also found the Radical MP suited his baseline game. He said, "I enjoyed hitting big off both wings. The Radical MP 2023 swings very fast with its head-light balance, and the spacing on the 16x19 feels properly spaced so I didn't lose control. The most notable takeaway I had from hitting groundstrokes was the feeling of the racquet flexing at its throat while remaining very solid throughout the rest of the hoop. I enjoyed all of the Radical MP 2023's features, including the combination of power and spin, the accessible control, the head-light balance and the firmness. The Radical MP 2023 was also very easy to maneuver in just about every situation." Volleys - Score: 80 Overall it seems that HEAD have done a decent job at upgrading the Radical and we can’t see a reason why any standard of amateur player shouldn’t at least be trying this one out. Howard - "This Radical MP 2023 was a pleasant surprise to me. The thing I enjoyed the most compared to my racquet of choice is that the Radical MP 2023 allowed me to flatten my shots a bit more. By flattening my shots, I was able to be more aggressive on the court, which I loved." Auxetic constructions show a unique deformation compared to non-Auxetic constructions. Due to their internal properties, Auxetic constructions widen when a “pull” force is applied and contract when squeezed. The bigger the applied force, the bigger the Auxetic reaction. Still one of the best overall frames on the market for players that want something that leans toward a players frame but noticeably more forgiving.” Final VerdictYou can watch the video review of the HEAD Radical Auxetic here. What is new in the HEAD Radical 2023? Always looking to close the point out at net, Erik found that the updated Radical MP suited his volley game well. He said, "This racquet was very solid on volleys. I found it to have a nice blend of maneuverability and stability. It was easy to hit volleys deep in the court due to the slightly higher launch angle. This racquet also had really nice feel at net, and I felt connected to the ball overall, especially when hitting drop volleys." Serves - Score: 82 Zeljko - "The thinner frame makes this update so maneuverable. The power is also improved compared to previous versions, and control and touch are even better. Love it." Mark - "I am happy to say that over the years, the Radical S has steadily gotten heavier, both in terms of static weight and swingweight, but not so much that it is no longer a 'tweener. Aside from those slight changes, all of the Radical S versions are comparable. The Prince Legacy 105, Dunlop FX 500 LS, Dunlop SX 600, Head Graphene 360+ Gravity S, Yonex VCORE PRO 100 280 and Wilson Pro Staff Team also feature specs that are comparable to the Radical S 2021." The Head Radical 27 combines power and control, making it a suitable choice for a range of players. However, the exact specifications for the racquet can vary based on its exact model and year of manufacture.
