About this deal

It is a richer, deeper scent of woods with a more prominent oud note compared the original Oud Wood. The synthetics they use almost create a fizzy coca cola smell in the opening, it's unique and enjoyable. The fragrance bursts open with spices that transport you to a foreign spice bazaar, offering a wonderful recreation of something that’s not commonly experienced in Europe. Make sure you apply it on a clean skin after shower and not while running sweaty sniffing testers in a perfume store. Right now i can still smell what i had applied 16 hours ago, 2022 batch if you must know. Known for its luxurious and sophisticated scent, it is a part of the original lineup of the Tom Ford Private Blend collection, which is known for its high-quality and exclusive fragrances.

Opening the bottle feels like breaking the seal on a treasure chest. You half expect a puff of smoke and a genie to pop out, granting you three wishes, with the first one obviously being "smell amazing forever." Alas, no genie, but the fragrance is the real magic. This scent exudes classiness and would work best for more dressed-up formal events with serious attire. As should be obvious from what I wrote above, I don't own, have never owned and will probably never own a bottle of Oud Wood Intense, and as such, I have absolutely no business writing a review for it... But Damnit, I wan't more of this scent in the world!!! Perfumer enthusiasts may recognize the presence of Cashmeran in the base cooling off what otherwise might be a pretty warm offering, adding balance and a dampness. This could be what turns regular Spice into fizzy Soda for me in the opening, I'm not quite sure.It simply doesn’t perform well beyond the first two hours. I also have another 50ml bottle of this fragrance with a batch code BC0 (December 2020) which is equally disappointing in terms of its performance. A note from the brand: “Smoky, incense-filled temples and a passion for rare, precious oud wood inspire Oud Wood, a pioneering composition of exotic woods and spices. Evoking the enveloping warmth of incense-filled temples, this groundbreaking composition of exotic, smoky woods includes rare oud, sandalwood, rosewood, eastern spices, and sensual amber, revealing Oud Wood’s rich and compelling power.” Notes and Classification Tom Fords Fragrances are hit or miss for me: Anthracite is horrible, his whole blue line is rather boring, the Original Oud Wood is very, very, very nice, but not for the price. But Oud Wood Intense is something else entirely. It's in a league of it's own. It’s dark, spicy woody and smells like plastic, or some type of chemical smell. However I say this in the best way possible, I really like the smell of this. I realized that I smell a lot of the pepper and woods. It’s smooth, but sharp in a peppery way that I really like. The wood is like almost metallic to my nose but not metallic like sauvage or something, but I can’t quite put my mind on it. When I first smelled it, I thought of food, but not sweets like a gourmand, but I wasn’t too sure what it was. Then it hit me, it’s gotta be the pepper, which I love, and I guess maybe the vetiver? There are the slightest bit of warming qualities most likely coming from tonka and richer notes of vanilla, but you don’t really pinpoint those like you would in true sweet scents. I’m imagining that the sandalwood is what helps give it a good blended smell that isn’t screechy. Again, it has a sharpness, but don’t confuse sharp with screech. Very different here.

This is the best of everything- sophisticated and classic. Great for day (it doesn't have beastly sillage but will get compliments if you're speaking to someone close by) but equally wonderful for evening (spritz a bit more, and certainly on your clothes where is lasts and lasts). I'm not sure I would wear this in summer unless I layered it with something brighter or sweeter; perhaps Vanille Fatale, but for fall/winter/spring it's perfect for everyday wear. For a fragrance with “Oud” in its name, some might find it strange that oud has a supporting role throughout the whole life of the fragrance. But, if you love agarwood, more power to you. I’ve moved on to something else. So, after being completely honest about what I think about oud, why do I love this one so much? In the realm of olfactory elegance, Tom Ford Oud Wood stands as an absolute masterpiece, a symphony of notes that evoke enigma and allure. Imagine a cold night, a sky studded with stars, and the aroma of agar, Brazilian rosewood, and cardamom weaving an intricate tapestry. As the scent unfolds, hints of Sichuan pepper, vanilla, vetiver, tonka bean, and amber emerge, creating a spellbinding composition. In this phase, I mainly get woody notes of sandalwood, oud, and vetiver, with touches of vanillic amber. Although tonka beans are listed as a base note, I didn’t really detect that sweet nutty note at all. For a fragrance with “Oud” in its name, some might find it strange that oud has a supporting role throughout the whole life of the fragrance.Extremely expensive/the idea that "normal" people would want to smell like this, or want to smell it period is stretching it. Its more than a vibe, its well.. niche.
