About this deal

Proper storage and disposal of house-hold garbage and dead animals is a very important part of rat control. Bulk dumpsters are often left with the tops open, or the tops are badly bent, allowing rodent entry. Constant vigilance and calls to the refuse company should correct these situations. Seal bulk trash compactors from rodents. Spilled refuse and juices from crushed contents often create rodent problems under and behind compactors and bulk dumpsters. Clean these areas of-ten and install rodent screening in container drains. Next working day delivery is not available for the Scottish Highlands and some remote areas where an additional charge may apply. We provide a variety of effective proofing solutions against rodent infestations to help protect every aspect of your business: The valves do not require any maintenance as they are made using 316L grade stainless steel, and once fitted you can rest assured it will do its job for up to 20 or more years. Flexi Armour Expansion Joint Proofing– this resilient yet flexible proofing solution eliminates the gaps in expansion joints on floors and walls in larger premises, preventing rodents chewing through and entering the voids.

Use only metal window screening materials where windows or doors are accessible to rodents. Avoid unnecessary ledges outside windows. When necessary, screen ventilation openings and windows with woven/welded galvanized hardware cloth. Such screening is critical in commercial and farm buildings and where high rodent pressures in residential areas are found. For large openings or where the screen may be subject to abuse, add crossbars to support the hardware cloth. If the opening is an access route, install the screen on a hinged frame. Figure 15. Left: A curtain wall made of concrete will prevent rats from burrowing under foundations to gain entry to buildings. Curtain walls can be installed on existing buildings. A horizontal footing extension often deflects burrowing rodents away from structures. Right: Feed sheds, corn cribs, and other existing wooden structures can be rodent-proofed by installing hardware cloth topped by a band of sheet metal. The hardware cloth can also serve as a curtain wall to prevent rodent burrowing. Since the 1950’s drainage systems have been much less isolated from the main street sewer and this has allowed rats more access into peoples drainage systems. Damaged or unmaintained storm drains and sewer pipes easily allow vermin access into the main drainage systems. From here they can enter your home by travelling through sewers, up pipes and exiting from the foul air outlet at roof level or swimming through the water contained in your toilet system. The MultiFlap ensures you’re protected by keeping them in the sewers where the authorities can deal with them. Rodent Barrier– the combination of knitted stainless steel mesh and our unique resilient epoxy resin provides a flexible yet sturdy barrier to prevent rodents chewing through to exploit expansion gaps. Figure 22. Guards can be used to prevent rats from climbing augers, pipes, or wires leading to buildings. Footings or foundations for grain bins should extend into the ground to prevent rat burrowing.Flexi Armour Ground Mesh - is a highly corrosion resistant, flexible and sturdy ground covering mesh that discreetly prevents burrowing pests like rats from creating underground dens and safe harbourages close to your facilities, by proofing the ground around the property to prevent tunnel excavation and damage.

When rats or mice are present in a building, attention must be given to interior as well as exterior rodent-proofing to remove all sources of shelter. A combination of actions is required in such instances, as no single effort is likely to yield the desired result. Please note; this model is made of a high grade plastic, but a determined rat can, and will, chew through plastic. Although this is very rare, it is possible. If this this concerns you, you might like to consider a more expensive stainless steel model (see below in ‘you may also like’ products). Rodent-Proof Construction | Rodent Entry Points | Rodent Exclusion Methods | Rodent-Proof Construction | Rodent-Proof Resources | ICWDM | Wildlife Species Information Standard insect mesh (aka fly mesh or flymesh) has a hole size of 1.36 mm x 1.36 mm. This is small enough to stop the vast majority of unwanted insects, including flies, mosquitoes, wasps and bees. Insect mesh is available to buy in our online shop insect mesh category. Soffit Vent Mesh All vents and duct openings for heating and air conditioning should be screened or raised and/or guarded with an excluder device to prevent rodent entry. Residential cold air return grills can easily be mouse-proofed by placing 1/4-inch (0.6-cm) hardware cloth behind the grill where it is not unsightly. In some applications, power vents can be covered with hinged metal plates (louvered) that open with air flow and close when fans are off. These louvers are only effective if they fit tightly and the sides are recessed to prevent rodents from pushing through them. Caution: Hardware cloth less than 1/2 x 1/2 inch (1.3 x 1.3 cm) significantly reduces air flow. In buildings where ventilation is already marginally adequate or inadequate, such further restrictions may be unacceptable. In some locations, small mesh screens can become clogged with dust or freeze over. In such situations, the use of 1/2 x 1/2-inch (1.3 x 1.3-cm) hardware cloth is a reasonable compromise between ventilation requirements and rodent control.Figure 9. Audit Compliance– proofing expansion joint gaps supports your audit compliance by proactively minimising the risks associated with internal mouse and rat activity. This in turn reduces the need to use rodenticide within your facility to control infestationsas you arerestricting rodent access.Flexi ArmourBuilding Seal Mesh - is a highly corrosive resistant, flexible, galvanised stainless steel knitted mesh which can be swiftly installed around the perimeter of cladded buildings as an impenetrable barrier to rodents. Ideally, you can control rodents by making it impossible for them to gain entry to your home. However, it may be difficult to exclude mice completely since they can pass through ¼ inch openings, approximately the width of a pencil. Rats can squeeze through ½ inch openings. Our Rodent Proof Wire Mesh and Mouse Mesh products are ideally suited to these applications Proofing door gaps - restricts rodent activity and therefore help reduce rodenticide usage, as infestations are reduced. Doors should fit tightly, the distance between the bottom of the door and the threshold not exceeding 1/4 inch (0.6 cm). In some instances, it is possible to build up the threshold rather than modify the door.
