Well, sound is great on disc 2 and so on, but what's the problem with those disc one missing copies? I have a copy of the HL variant and I cannot find fault with it - this could be a demo disc for the virtues of vinyl. I can confirm there are some manufacturing issues as well, like others have mentioned with missing discs. This is a European repress with lacquers cut by Heino Leja (sides A and C) and KR (3) (sides B and D).If sealed you're only clue is the small text on the back indicates it was manufactured in the US and there's a reference as well to "AOL Time Warner". Only problem with finally having this on vinyl is that it throws in clear relief just how comparatively poor the songs collected on side C are (IMO of course!

This is one of my favorite of their releases and prefer this over Californication and Stadium Arcadium but behind BSSM. A routinely great artist, much of Sufjan's universal appeal comes from his skills as a gifted narrator, pairing personal musings on love and devotion with commentary on American culture, whilst welding folk and electronica, the ambient and existential. Unlike most versions of the album on CD and wax these are not "brick walled" and you finally get a sense for the dynamic soundscape of the music. No skipping or 'flaws' in the actual vinyl but the Treble on some of the tracks (most notably disc 1 side A) is absurdly high which has a really negative effect on the vocals at times.It sounds like a poor imitation of what a record is supposed to sound like, or something you'd see on a TV show that is making fun of the supposed inferiority of records; it's absurd. Is there really a dramatic improvement in sound for those who have the KG etched on the groove version? this is not particularly bad in my opinion, i just feel the bass takes the back seat like there's low upper bass and an even mid bass, dont remember it sounding like that to me, i even have ubi5s which have louder bass than a flat response would be and the drums sound a bit thin to me, guitars could probably use a bit of high end as well, everything else is fine in general, though the paper inner sleeves are kinda trash. Anyone who has had the pleasure of seeing Jalen perform live knows that he is one of the most captivating performers on today's soul scene. Records that aren't in picture sleeves will either be in a company sleeve or a generic plain sleeve.
