The chalky flat matt finish consists of high quality binders & pigments that ensure a robust finish with a unique depth & colour intensity. On the shore of Lake Maggiore, Italy, I discovered an old light blue rowing boat. In the breath-taking scenery of the sea and the mountains, the already faded coating of the boat hull developed a very special charm. The blue fit into the landscape quite naturally and did not at all seem like a foreign body in nature. In combination with the sunlight, the weathered surface of the hull created a blue that appeared to be at home here. Therefore, it got the name BARCA DE LAGO.

On my journey through Scandinavia, between colourful fisher huts, I found an old buoy. It was lying in front of a shadowy wall painted in dark green and was intensively illuminated by the flat afternoon sun. Its orange surface had many traces of usage and quirks. The buoy seemed to be discarded, but I thought that it had found a nice place for its retirement. I named the deep orange colour of its worn surface RETIRED BUOY. Retired Buoy is a beautiful burnt orange colour that was inspired by Lars’ travels through Scandinavia. He says:If you don’t want to fill an entire room with a deep colour, then I would suggest using it on woodwork, especially where you have rather a lot of it - built in storage and panelling for example, and then you can break the mood with wallpaper or other colours. For the deep, dark category of paint, I wouldn’t recommend painting your ceiling to match (which seems to be the paint trend of the moment) as it could look too nightclubby. But don’t just paint the ceiling white white either: it will seem harsh and unconsidered. Ask whoever you bought your chosen deep colour from to recommend you a partner neutral. In general it will be one which features a hint of warmth, or a tint of whatever deep colour you have chosen. Another great use of dark paints is a dramatic dark floor. If you dare go for a dark paint on the floor, varnish it to a gloss, and pair it with a mid-or light toned wall: you could be the owner of a very beautiful room indeed. On my journey through Denmark, in the coastal town Hvide Sande, I noticed an area with small colourful fisher huts. All of them were extremely weathered and partly ruined. Yet, their bright colours spread joy. The low-lying evening sun illuminated a weathered, red wooden facade in yellow-orange. The combination of sunlight and old coating created an intensive berry-colour. This shade received the name BERRY BOOM.
