exteriors like. The film is not abundantly brilliant and superfluously colorful, but tones throughout -- whether clothes, natural greens, the colors within the diner, even the warmly bathed low light shots in the bar where Marsellus meets with Butch -- look very prominent, healthy, and appealing. Though this might have been ripe for a new Dolby Atmos mix, Paramount has taken the same DTS HD Master Audio from the Blu-ray. Dialogue, which is a staple of Tarantino’s films, sounds crisp and rich. Trust me, there’s no better way to hear Jules’“preaching” than in pure, uncompressed sound. The surrounds also came into play much more than I expected. Little things like a motorcycle starting up or a crowd of people talking (when Butch hits Marcellus with his car). If those opening credits don’t get your heart rate into triple digits, I’m guessing nothing will. Supplements: What are the extras? Production Design Featurette– David Wasco, Production Designer, and Sandy Reynolds-Wasco, Set Decorator give us their insight on the design of the film. The two most bracing things about Pulp Fiction are two elements which are seemingly at odds with each other but which in Tarantino's universe go together like hand and glove, namely violence and humor. This is a film filled to the breaking point with absolutely gratuitous, over the top violence, but it is also one of the inarguably funniest films of the past 25 years or so. What is so captivating about Tarantino's achievement is how often the violence and the humor work together, side by side, to create this film's patently manic energy. For anyone who's seen the film, memories of the first scene where the hitmen "get into character" or the later iconic scene with Thurman's character and the incredible shot of adrenaline will know exactly what I'm talking about. There are very few films that manage to walk a tightrope as artfully as Pulp Fiction does, and the fact that the film remains so seemingly effortlessly balanced is why it will remain a classic for this or any other era.Paramount releases Pulp Fiction to the UHD format with a 2160p/Dolby Vision presentation. This hotly anticipated release will not be Paramount Home Media releases Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction (1994) on 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray on Dec. 6, 2022. The upgraded film is available in both a standard plastic edition and Limited Edition SteelBook, each with a second copy on 1080p Blu-ray and a code to redeem a Digital Copy. Each disc contains legacy special features, but the Blu-ray houses much more bonus content than the 4k Blu-ray. Paramount has released the long-anticipated UHD for the classic 1994 film 'Pulp Fiction,' directed by Quentin Tarantino and starring John Travolta

While this is not a UHD that is going to blow everyone away with a "wow" factor, it is a very stable and healthy image and one that offers a

material promised a new transfer on the Blu-ray, what is included appears to be identical to the 2011 Such controversial reactions are commonplace in Tarantino’s career, beginning with the torture scene and the use of the n-word in Reservoir Dogs, sparking an over-reported spat with Spike Lee. These minor infractions, however, seemed to become scorched earth in the wake of the overwhelming success of Pulp Fiction, which is arguably the most influential film of the 1990s. A rapturous, endlessly inventive, and deeply hilarious embrace of immorality, Pulp Fiction dropped racial slurs freely, was powered by curse words, and set out to do nothing less than make an afro-sporting hitman’s batshit spiritual awakening just as moving, if not more so, than Forrest Gump’s tearful speech at Jenny’s grave.

Writer-director Quentin Tarantino delivers an unforgettable cast of characters— including a pair of low-rent hit men (John Travolta and Samuel L.

Sadly, nothing new has been created for this 4K release, but that’s OK. We’ve got plenty of supplemental content, though most of it resides on the Blu-ray. Not the Usual Mindless Boring Getting to Know You Chit Chat (HD; 43:01). This all new retrospective has some great interviews with the cast and crew reminiscing about how they became involved in the project and what it meant to them. It's nice for a critic to hear that Quentin Tarantino evidently loved critics in his youth and adored Pauline Kael, which evidently fostered his appreciation for John Travolta, who was Kael's favorite actor of that era. Quentin Tarantino’s first two films: Reservoir Dogs and now Pulp Fiction, have both benefitted from 4K releases. I had high hopes for this one, having just recently reviewed Reservoir Dogs and was blown away by the image. I’ll get this out of the way first – I did prefer the picture on Reservoir Dogs to this one, but that’s not to say that this one is bad – far from it, actually. This isn’t a night and day difference from the previously-released Blu-ray. In fact, most 4K movies aren’t. Rather, the 2.39:1 HEVC 4K image takes what was good and adds to it. Colors are more vibrant, detail has been increased and with the aid of HDR, many of the scenes have far better contrast. Given that this film was a higher profile movie than its predecessor, I’ve always found it an attractive-looking movie. The bottom line – was it worth the wait? I think it was and what we’ve got is the best this film has ever looked on any home video format. Audio: How does it sound? There are many Tarantino fans who consider Pulp Fiction to be his greatest accomplishment. It’s hard to argue that point. The character development, script, acting, and cinematography are all exceptional. The movie was nominated for a total of seven Academy Awards including Best Picture and won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. Here’s a review of Quentin Tarantino’s iconic film Pulp Fiction on 4k Blu-ray Disc. Pulp Fiction (1994) 4k Blu-ray screen photo with Uma Thurman VideoIt goes without saying that the film’s use of music is phenomenal, but it’s put to use so skillfully in scenes like the one where Vincent takes drugs, set to the Centurians’s “Bullwinkle Part II,” that Tarantino’s ridiculed status as a vinyl junkie seems even more inane than the publicized caricature of the filmmaker. It has, unbelievably, become an even more popular practice to belittle Tarantino’s reference-heavy style, which seems to be a way of disregarding the director as an artist and chalk him up as more of a facilitator of high-end trash. Such arguments are painfully tedious and seem to completely ignore the fact that the best American directors worked, often solely, in the B-movie mode, but thankfully, in this case, there’s very little need to argue for Pulp Fiction’s merits, for they have survived and continued to flourish with age. Image/Sound The film has a deliberately complex structure which is decidedly non-linear, and the film also exults in a virtually nonstop stream of pop and cultural references that include everything from the mysterious glowing briefcase of Kiss Me Deadly to Marilyn Monroe's windswept skirt. Is this film self-aware, even too self-aware? Well, yes, but isn't that the point? Tarantino is a film geek par excellence, and he stuffs Pulp Fiction to the brim with references to other films, as well as any number of other cultural detritus which drifts by most of us unnoticed. Tarantino's fine eye for detail and incredible ear for dialogue has probably never had a finer moment than in Pulp Fiction. Pulp Fiction: The Facts – Documentary– This is more of a biopic on Tarantino, but it also tells of the origins of the film and how he came to be. Very interesting, though I felt a bit manufactured.
