These wrist wraps are best-suited for CrossFitters and Olympic weightlifters, where enhanced range of motion may be beneficial. I don’t recommend these for powerlifters or heavy lifters because the support isn’t the same. The most common wrist wrap lengths are 12″, 18″, and 24″. Longer straps are generally stiffer, but they’re bulkier and not as easy to put on. Shorter straps are more comfortable and offer better range of motion, but they aren’t the best for heavy lifting. Wrist wraps aren’t known for having long warranties, but some are better than others. For example, the Gymreapers Wrist Wraps have a lifetime replacement guarantee, while others may offer as little as 30 days. If you plan to use your wraps often, I recommend focusing on those with good warranty programs. Price

Wrist Wraps are a helpful and affordable gym accessory that can make a huge difference in your training. On the regular wraps, Gymreapers only offers an 18″ length, but the stiff wraps come in 12″, 18″, or 24″. In my opinion, 18″ is the perfect length for wrist wraps because it’s supportive without being too bulky. With a tri-blend construction of cotton, polyester, and elastic, these are durable wraps with a comfortable texture. They aren’t as stiff as others, but they’re outstanding for functional and Olympic weightlifting movements. While they still provide ample wrist support for heavy presses, I recommend more rigid wraps if that’s your goal. WOD Nation Wrist Wraps: The WOD Nation Wraps are softer wraps ideally made for CrossFit and other functional fitness programs. They come in 12″ and 18″ options, which is great, but they don’t have as many color choices.

I’m impressed with the overall quality of the IsoWraps. You can buy them in either cotton or suede leather. I found the leather to be comfortable and durable. The thumb loop has a significantly bigger opening than others, which is somewhat awkward. While materials are among the biggest influencers over durability, stitching is also very important. High-quality wrist wraps have reinforced stitching throughout. In addition to double-stitched seams, look for tight threading since loose stitching indicates poor long-term durability. They also aren’t as stiff, so I don’t recommend them for powerlifters, strongmen/women, or heavy lifters. These are ideal for Olympic weightlifters, CrossFitters, and functional fitness athletes. When performing pressing movements like the bench press, your wrists can be a limiting factor that prevents you from reaching your goals. Support is one of the most important considerations when buying wrist wraps. Depending on your training style, you may prefer a stiffer or more relaxed wrap.

While less popular, wrist wraps may also come in leather, which is very durable but less comfortable. Stiffness Most wrist wraps are built with elastic and a blend of cotton, nylon, and/or polyester. By blending fabrics with elastic, wrist wraps can provide ample support with enough flex to remain comfortable and easy to use. The biggest benefit of wrist wraps is that they help stabilize the wrist joint. When worn correctly, this can dramatically improve comfort, pain, and performance. Improves Form Rogue is a household name in the CrossFit community. These wrist wraps stand true to the Rogue reputation as a high-quality USA-made product. However, their lower price comes with a couple of tradeoffs. Firstly, Rip Toned Wrist Wraps aren’t IPF-approved, so I would look elsewhere if you’re a competitive lifter. Secondly, the stitching on the velcro patch isn’t reinforced, which may lead to durability issues down the line.There’s nothing especially unique about these wrist wraps since they’re 18″ long, 3″ wide, and use a similar blended fabric. However, their stiff fit wraps are some of my favorites. With most wrist wraps using velcro, look for proper stitching on the patches. Durable wraps often include Box-X stitching, which is a great sewing method. Length One of the biggest benefits of these wrist wraps (regular fit) is that they’re IPF-approved, meaning you can use them in IPF-sanctioned powerlifting meets. Although stiffer wraps are still better for heavier lifts, I found the Manimal Wrist Wraps effective at all movements. Their comfort is similar to the Rogue wraps, but their structure is more supportive. I wouldn’t hesitate to grab these for bench press, overhead press, etc. They’re also USPA-approved for powerlifter competitors. Pressing movements can cause wrist pain and discomfort for many lifters. Whether from a prior injury or general joint instability, the wrist can be a physical and mental limiting factor.

The support these wraps provide is every bit as good as more expensive wraps like the Stoic and Gymreapers wraps. They create a very rigid feel that’s perfect for heavy presses and squats. Considering these are better suited for powerlifters, I don’t recommend them as much for CrossFitters, Olympic lifters, etc. They can still work, but their more rigid profile may not be as effective or comfortable for more dynamic movements.On the downside, they don’t feel as stable as traditional wraps and aren’t as intuitive when putting them on. A critical factor of wearing wrist wraps is covering the entire joint, which requires placement slightly above and below the joint. Accomplishing this with a 1″ width is more challenging. In fact, it’s one of the biggest benefits of this style because you don’t have to constantly wrap and unwrap after lifts. That’s because it uses friction to create tightness. With the wrap engaged, you can increase or decrease tightness by simply twisting the wrap, making them awesome for WODs.
