A Plague Tale: Innocence was one of GameSpot's Best Games of 2019. The game captures sibling love remarkably well, putting you in the shoes of Amicia, a noble girl who must take care of her younger brother Hugo as the two try to survive 1348 France. On their journey, the two will come face-to-face with a country ravaged by the Hundreds Years' War, the French Inquisition, and the bubonic plague, the latter of which has been personified into a literal horde of ravenous rats. In 1348, Amicia de Rune is a 15-year-old French girl of noble descent who lives in Aquitaine during the Hundred Years' War between England and France. Her 5-year-old brother, Hugo, has been ill since birth; their mother, Beatrice, an alchemist, has sheltered him in their estate while trying to devise a cure. [3] While hunting with her father Robert in the forest, Amicia encounters an unusual substance on the ground, and her dog Lion is gruesomely consumed by an unseen entity. French Inquisition troops, led by Lord Nicholas, arrive at the de Rune estate in search of Hugo, executing Robert and slaughtering the family servants. Beatrice helps her children escape and instructs Amicia to take Hugo to a doctor named Laurentius. Chapter 2 – The Strangers introduces the game’s crafting mechanics. To upgrade your Sling, you can either use the workbenches you find in the next chapters or take advantage of the crafting menu using which allows you to upgrade your Sling on the go. The Sling has three upgrade levels for two different categories, Strings and Pouch. To completely upgrade it you need to complete each upgrade level for both categories. To move to the next level, you need to have the right type and amount of crafting materials needed for that specific upgrade. Each chapter has lots of crafting materials, but for some of them, such as fabric, cord, and leather, the game isn’t exactly generous. Make it a point to be thorough in your exploration to avoid having to replay chapters for missing materials.
