About this deal

To create a focal point with three colors, follow these steps. Spray on the first color (the base coat). While it’s still wet, spray two colors over it at the same time. Let the colors intermix. You shouldn’t apply the stain in direct sunlight (partial or full shade is best), so wait for a cloudy day or a time of day when the patio is shaded. Also avoid windy days so the stain won’t drift. You’ll need a few garden sprayers for this project—one for each stain color you’re applying and one for water. Fill the sprayers over tarps on the grass (don’t fill them on the patio since spills will stain the concrete). Test the spray pattern on cardboard. This cleaner can be mixed for either normal use or very heavy contamination. To use, simply dilute the solution at 1 part cleaner with 9 parts water, then apply to the surface. It’s fully biodegradable so will break down over time. Firstly, use a stiff broom to remove any debris. Then clean the patio with a suitable cleaner such as Centrecoat R09 Heavy Duty Cleaner. If your patio has moss or algae growth, we recommend using Centrecoat GS36. However, if you intend to use a jet wash, allow to dry thoroughly before application of the paint. If you patio slab has algae growth that is not removed by the Centrecoat GS36, we would recommend the use of Centrecoat BG R04 Hard Surface Landscape Cleaner. Concrete stain is a water-based product that coats the concrete and becomes a permanent part of the surface. The stains can fade and wear over time, but sealer helps protect them.

With the advent of smaller, portable blasting kit, some specialist contractors are willing to clean areas of, say, under 15m² for a couple of hundred quid (northern England prices -probably not applicable in that London). Obviously larger areas cost more, but for two hundred quid, clean paving worth in excess of 400 quid in terms of replacement (27 quid/m²), is perfectly possible. Colours are sold in the nearest tin size but actual paint volume per tin may vary up to 10% depending on colour The product is translucent and therefore unsuitable to change colour of previously industrially dyed paving stone or slab. Stones or slabs of different age might turn out differently in terms of colour. Impurities like motor oil, crystallization of salts or other impurities have an effect on the final colour. FAQ’s My patio slabs are sealed…can I paint over them?

Ingredients: If you have a pet, you'll want to be particularly wary of the ingredients in your patio cleaner, so they're non-toxic to your furry friend. Many contain ammonia which is toxic, whilst others contain bleach, which you'll need to keep pets away from until it's completely dry. If you can keep your pet away from the patio whilst you wait for it to dry, those labelled as pet-safe or organic are a good choice. Alternatively, consider a pressure washer or wire brush tool that doesn't require chemicals. It's important to ensure that the surface is completely clean before the application of the paint. Jet washing should be performed on a fan setting at roughly 30cm distance from surface or with a dedicated rotary patio cleaner. Do not use jet patterns or turbo type lances.

APPLICATION GUIDE

Additionally, this cleaner must be applied to a wet surface to work fully. These steps of wetting and rinsing mean that this particular product requires more work than others on the market, but the results are worth it. For a deep clean I like to use a cream cleaner like Cif and then scrub using a long handled garden broom,' says Laura Mountford, Cleaning Expert and Author, Live Laugh Laundry. 'This will help to remove stubborn stains.' There’s also no shelf life, so if you don’t manage to use the 5 L bottle at once, it can be saved for a later date with no concerns of the effectiveness dropping.
