About this deal

The Fiddle Time Starters book is a very good start for the young to start learning how to play the Violin, it is very easy to follow and has a few songs to get you going. Piano and string accompaniments, plus notes, warm-ups, photocopiable pages, and additional material.

Bach for Violin is a celebration of the music of this remarkable composer, and provides a varied collection of concert pieces in new arrangements exploring the range of styles and genres found in Bach’s music. With his wife Kathy, he has written and published over 60 books for young string players: Fiddle Time, Viola Time, Cello Time and several ensemble collections, all published by Oxford University Press. Grateful thanks to Maria do Carmo Cruz for translating it and to Clarissa Foletto for her revisions. Two wonderful Dutch teachers have made translations into Dutch of a number of the songs from the Starters books - Thank you Petra Flipse and Marijn Drolsbach! Finger pattern 01-2-34 plus low 2nd fingers and high 3rd fingers, 2nd and 3rd position pieces, a range of bowing techniques, and pieces using modes, the chromatic and blues scales, and dominant 7ths.

He has conducted both adult and children's choirs, and published several fine choral arrangements, as well as pieces for Oxford's Piano Time series.

In the circumstances outlined above, we will do our best to contact you and inform you of any anticipated delays. Carefully paced to suit young learners, the book supports players through the vital early stages, step by step-from how to hold your instrument and bow, through basic notation, to pieces using the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd fingers. Fully compatible with Viola and Cello Time Starters, and suitable for individual and mixed group lessons. Listen to three tracks from each of the four main Fiddle Time pupil's books — Fiddle Time Starters, Joggers, Runners, and Sprinters.Covers the finger patterns used in Joggers and Runners and includes all the scales and arpeggios for ABRSM Grades 1 and 2. Fiddle Time From the very first lessons to Grade 8, the Fiddle Time books are packed with lively original material, duets, and traditional and concert pieces for all to enjoy.

David Blackwell studied music at Edinburgh University, after which he pursued a career in music publishing, first at ABRSM and then at Oxford University Press. She has a special interest in teaching the violin and viola to young children, both individually and in groups. If your product comes complete with a CD or if you purchase a CD separately, then the tracks on the CD can easily be converted to MP3 files by using, for example, the “Rip CD” option in the Windows Media Player on a PC. Overall I can't complain and the CD is a nice edition (still can't report on that because we haven't played it yet) - postage took a week and a half like they said it would. Violin accompaniments for all the pieces in Fiddle Time Sprinters, suitable for a teacher or more advanced student.

However, if you would like to, you can change your settings at any time using the Change cookie settings link in the Special menu. I wonder if it may have been possible to print this as a small book, akin to the old Starters book which fits in a violin case and therefore is easier for most pupils to remember to bring to lessons. Carefully paced to suit young learners, it supports players through the important early stages, step by step-from how to hold your instrument and bow, through basic notation, to exciting pieces in a range of styles. Violin accompaniments for all the pieces in Fiddle Time Joggers, third edition, suitable for a teacher or more advanced student. However the CD that comes with it, despite saying fiddle time starters on the cd, has the cello time starters tracks so we can not tune the violin to the tracks as described.

Pupils are introduced in an almost subliminal way to several important 'classical' composers within very cleverly arranged pieces exemplifying their style of composing. An ideal first book for beginners with lots of short easy tunes to get children playing straight away. Developing on the achievement of the Fiddle Time series, Fiddle Time Starters provides the best possible groundwork for the budding string player. With tunes, quizzes and games, it covers introductory points such as how to hold the instrument and bow, though to notation and musical pieces in a range of styles. The Starters books provide a thorough pedagogical approach that supports the early years of learning up until the end of Joggers, and the Starters and Joggers books work well when used in conjunction.
