About this deal

Collo-Cal D is a specially formulated nutritional supplement for cats and dogs which introduces additional Calcium and Vitamin D into their diets. It offers a range of benefits, but is primarily intended to support healthy bone growth in young cats and dogs. It is also often given to pregnant or nursing bitches and female cats. It is orally administered, and comes in liquid form. Collo-Cal D is available in bottles of 250ml, or a litre.

At the first sign of labor, start oral calcium gel. One cc (ml) contains 200 mg of calcium as calcium carbonate, calcium lactate and calcium ascorbate and 100 IU of Vitamin D3. Large dogs can receive 2 cc and small dogs can receive 1 cc at the start of labor and this can be repeated after the delivery of each puppy. Can I Give Calcium to My Dog After Giving Birth? Once the puppies are born, the mother may require up to four times the calories required by a healthy adult. Breeders with large litters will often allow the bitch to free feed during the first 3-4 weeks of lactation, unless she only has one or two puppies. Free choice feeding while nursing only one or two puppies is not advised because it allows the mother to make much more milk than she needs, potentially predisposing her to mastitis (inflammation of the milk glands). Injectable calcium gluconate 10% provides the fastest onset of action. Higher concentrations of calcium injectable products are dangerous and should not be used. During labor, you can use either injectable 10% calcium gluconate or Breeder’s Edge ® Oral Cal Plus Gel for the most prompt response. Products such as Tums ® do not deliver enough calcium and phosphorus fast enough to use in place of Oral Cal Plus Gel. Each Tums ® contains 200 mg of calcium carbonate. Introducing Collo-Cal D, a liquid calcium solution enriched with Vitamin D for enhanced calcium absorption in animals. This essential nutrient plays a crucial role in promoting healthy bone growth and structure in young animals. Key Benefits: A lot of breeders will routinely give an additional calcium supplement for the first five days after whelping, and it is a good idea to always have some on hand. I have heard of people giving ice-cream during the whelping process (after the first puppy has been born), but looking at the calcium levels in ice-cream I can't see that this can be of any benefit.Performance Enhancement: Additionally, it serves as a valuable dietary supplement for working and racing dogs, supporting physical conditioning and peak performance, essential for their roles. Palatable and popular amongst cats and dogs, Collo-Cal D is a delicious Calcium & Vitamin D supplement specially designed to ideally meet the nutritional requirements of young animals, whelping bitches and nursing queens. Also suitable for administration to older animals to supplement their diet, Collo-Cal D is simply added to drinking water and helps to promote high energy levels. Calcium is well known as an essential component for optimal bone growth and bone structure, hence why a Calcium-rich supplement is ideal for young, growing animals. Vitamin D improves is known to enhance the absorption of Calcium, maximising the efficacy of your supplement. It contains Calcium, an essential nutrient used to promote healthy bone and growth structure in young animals, and Vitamin D, which gives an added benefit as it aids the absorption of calcium in dogs/pups, cats/kittens.

Most post whelping problems are seen within the first few hours/days after whelping. Sometimes the bitch is unable to feed her puppies, and they will have to be hand reared and they will have to be hand reared and in these cases, it is important that the puppies receive colostrum to ensure they have a good immune system. Eclampsia can be extremely dangerous, and fortunately the signs are fairly easy to recognise. Panting and restless are the early clinical signs, milkd tremors, twitching, and muscle spasms. The bitch can become aggressive, whine, salivate and pace, often staring into space and becoming disorientated. If your bitch starts to have tremors, you must seek veterinary advice/help. Calcium supplementation must be avoided while your bitch is pregnant, unless specifically prescribed by your veterinarian. You should also avoid high phytate foods, such as, barley, rice, wheat bran and wheat germ, as high phytate foods can interfere with the body's absorption of calcium.According to veterinary formularies, oral calcium gluconate or calcium carbonate can be administered at 10 to 30 mg/kg three times daily. For a 60 pound dog, this would be 300 to 900 mg every eight hours as a maintenance dose. Enhance your pet's health and performance with Collo-Cal D, a versatile and effective solution for various life stages and activities. Contains calcium - an essential nutrient that may be used to promote healthy bone and growth structure in young animals. Once she’s in labor, supplementation is okay – calcium – in fact, supplemented births are desirable. Fast-absorbing calcium like Breeder’s Edge ® Oral Cal Plus Gel used several times during the birthing process helps keep blood calcium levels up. The pregnant dog will fine tune from the bone. Since she won’t be eating, a small amount of gel orally is the only choice.
