About this deal

In his first ever DEADLY DIARIES Steve Backshall shares what it means to him to film the world’s top predators. Steve Backshall's Deadly 60 accompanies the CBBC television series of the same name, and follows wild life expert Steve Backshall on a round the world trip to document sixty deadly creatures.

His wide range of work has inspired the next generation of naturalists and has taken him to South East Asia. But something happens to make Saker change sides and now he’s on the run from his predatory brothers.Registered office address: Unit 34 Vulcan House Business Centre, Vulcan Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE5 3EF.

Children across key stage two can enjoy looking at the pictures in this book, but as the text is reasonably challenging, I would recommend this book for children aged nine upwards. Including the renowned, the unexpected and the downright bizarre, this companion book to Steve Backshall's high adrenaline tour of the world's most deadly is not to be missed.Steve's encounters range from famous killers such as the Black Mamba and the North American Grizzly Bear to less well known but no less deadly animals. Next, Steve joined the Natural History Unit’s fledgling expedition team, making the first ascent of a jungle peak and dropping into a vast sinkhole in the Mulu mountains in ‘Expedition Borneo’. He has published several books, Venom, Deadly 60, The Wildlife Adventurer’s Guide, and Looking For Adventure. Steve has completed many endurance events; finished in the top third of the field in the Marathon Des Sables, the top ten of UK’s Tough Guy, 5th in the Welsh 1000m peaks marathon and completed the Devizes to Westminster kayak race.

Deep in the jungle, they're reunited on their most daredevil and audacious mission yet, to save the endangered orangutans before they become ghosts of the forest. And then he found himself in the vast untamed wilderness of Papua New Guinea, experiencing the crushing lows and extraordinary highs of the BBC’s Lost Land of the Volcano expedition. Each animal has a rating a little like trump cards, with categories size, speed, weapons and deadly rating, with up to 5 points for each item. He has just six months to travel six continents and find 60 of the deadliest creatures on the planet for the 26-part Children’s BBC series of the same name which will air on BBC 1, CBBC, Discovery and Animal Planet channels. Separated by blizzards and avalanches, lost in a breathtakingly beautiful but deadly frozen Arctic wilderness, suffering from frostbite and hunger, listening to the wolves howl and the packs draw closer, it seems that this time they cannot possibly live to tell their tale.

He meets fifteen year old Sinter, a spoiled rich girl, who is running away from an arranged marriage and their uneasy friendship will eventually form an unshakeable bond, as together they face adventure and danger as two young eco-warriors in a truly threatening world.
