World famous for their horn-loaded treble units, the RP-600M II features an improved design. The new 90-degree Tractrix horn surround is larger than before, giving a wider spread of sound but with the same clarity and intensity as ever. Using a phase plug and moulded silicon face, high frequency sound is smoothly imaged, precisely to the listener – making even the most subtle details easy to decipher. The RP-600M ebony and walnut finishes boast satin painted baffles with a scratch resistant design for an elegant audio solution to your home theater system.

The RP-600M has a speedy and bouncy sound, with an animated nature and a general lust for life. This is a hugely attractive facet to its personality, because its enthusiastic and jolly nature means that you end up excusing its shortcomings. These are centred around a somewhat uncouth treble and gloopy-sounding upper bass. As for its lower bass, well there isn’t much to speak of… With its 6.5 inch, copper-spun Cerametallic cone and larger cabinet, the RP-600M II speakers have a convincing way with bass. Given their size, the RP-600M II speakers reach deep down into the bass spectrum, for bass with oomph. As well as class-leading bass depth, the rigid cones deliver a tight and punchy bass that keeps you on the edge of your seat. To my ears the boom-tizzz is more curve shaped. This speaker has the middle midrange (250-1000Hz) at the right level. Footnote 1: Mix Staff, " 1925: Chester Rice & Edward Kellogg, General Electric Co. Modern Dynamic Loudspeaker." The Klipsch RP-600M speaker has gained major popularity among audiophiles. Just one look at the shining copper woofer will make you understand why. The aesthetic continues throughout the trim and covers all of the fasteners. Normally I don't suggest letting automated room EQ fix the speaker but in this case, I would let it beat it into shape.

This tech is patented by the company Klipsch, and you may find this technology in other speakers. There are many layers of metal over the cone that led it to be stiff. This is great as it avoids breakup. The mix-up of materials leads to the driver’s regular breakup point to the point that is pretty far from the frequency that it works in. Seems like the tweeter starts roll-off well before the crossover frequency. Maybe they need to crossover this low because the woofer is horrible. Can't think of any other good reasons. If you've ever dipped your toe into some form of high-performance motor sport, you know: The best race-car engines spin torque and exhale horsepower—with intoxicating ease. They're engineered to be responsive. Depress the clutch, toe the throttle, and watch the tachometer instantly pin itself. Engage the clutch—your chest contracts and your head gets light. Then later . . . The above has absolutely no business being in a legitimate review. It reads like the spiel of a bad salesman. "Reference Premier" indeed, it is just as easy to put that moniker on a product as "The best we could do for the money". Are we to start evaluating speakers by how many anechoic chambers the manufacturer has. The RP-600M efficiency is rated at 96db, which is pretty high. One can easily drive them with a lesser-powered amp or a receiver and even then have the room around you filled with huge sound. Performance This way, you will get to experience a wide and tall soundstage like the one that we could experience. Another observation is that the speakers performed exceptionally well when placed at a distance of at least 18 inches from the rear wall. It is typical when it comes to bookshelf speakers when placed over a stand.

This is a really interesting case. It's pretty remarkable how good the directivity is given how flawed the on-axis is. Those DI curves are better than the vast majority of the speakers tested so far.

This suggests to me decent engineering compromised by 'tuning by ear.' Why you would tune 2K down by a good 5 dB, I have no idea, especially considering this area is already compromised by interaural crosstalk -- and even more so on a narrowish directivity design. At a time when some might argue the standmount market is becoming a little too homogeneous, the Klipsch RP-600M's 'warts and all' approach to music-making is nothing if not distinctive. This is a genuine, old school 'character loudspeaker'. Now, can we finally have Wilson Loudspeakers made in China ( for 10% of their USA price ? ) It will only take a little reverse engineereing and Poof, you have it : Cardboard Wilsons !
