I love this book. It’s all about building confidence. Confidence for women for pregnancy, birth and mothering, and confidence for midwives, so they can support women. Marshall JE (2012) Tanggung jawab professional bidan dalam mengembangkan kompetensi di bidang keterampilan baru. In Marshall JE and Raynor MD (2012) Keterampilan Lanjut Practik Klinik Kebidanan, Singapore: Elsevier (Singapore) Pte Limited / Indonesia: EGC Medical Publisher. Bab 2, pp 9-25. In Marshall JE and Raynor MD (2014) Myles Textbook for Midwives (16th ed), Edinburgh, Churchill Livingstone, Elsevier, pp 3-23. This book is amazing. I got one before I started my application and I got in first time to my first choice University. Took a lot of work and dedication from me, but this book helped me with my personal statement, writing it to how admissions tutors want it, giving examples of both good and bad personal statements & where improvements can be made on the 'bad ones'. This book also helped me ace my interviews. It's completely honest and quite amusing in parts. I can't recommend it enough!' - Hannah L.

Qualifications Written by a mother, inspired by her first birth. Tina Cassidy is American, but this covers as many cultures and times as possible. It’s a book about hope, struggle, research, and tips….it’s like a massive, sunlit, hopeful midwifery college. Retaining the clear, accessible writing style that so readily characterised the success of earlier editions, Myles Textbook for Midwives 16th edition continues to offer an exceptionally clear explanation of the relevant anatomy and physiology relating to pregnancy and childbirth as well as comprehensive coverage of the other associated topics which range from antenatal education for birth and parenting to the effective management of midwifery and obstetric emergencies. Myles most seminal piece of writing has been her Textbook for Midwives, firstly published by Churchill Livingston in 1953. [2] Although the book was published one year before her retirement, having had recognised a gap in midwifery education, Myles had started working on it since her tutor years. [3] The book has been identified as Book of the Year as part of the seventy-fifth anniversary celebrations of the American Journal of Nursing. [2] Myles Textbook for Midwives has been translated in many languages and is currently sold around the world, with its seventeen edition to be published in 2020. [4] Out of these editions, Myles herself worked on ten revisions between 1952 and 1985, [5] updating the content with the latest best practices and developments and removing obsolete knowledge and practice.
