One last detraction that I'm not sure if it was an internet connection fault or one prevalent throughout VUDU's streaming copy but about every 3-4 seconds the image would suffer from some stuttering frames. It was a film series that could have been lost like tears in rain, but the Blade Runner franchise is now rightly recognized as one of the most important in all of sci-fi cinema. Despite their capacity for brutal violence, their childlike innocence and view of the world is perfect for this story. Performances are superb, with Gosling perfectly cast as the new blade runner on the block, whilst Ana de Armas and Sylvia Hoeks surprise with their innovative artificiality.
As clean as dialogue is, there are long stretches of silence where no one is talking and all you're left with is atmosphere. This 4K UHD stream from VUDU was very good, but it has some flaws that make the UHD Blu-ray an all around more satisfying experience.It’s a dreamy, meditative tale that ponders the nature of existence, human or otherwise, with frequent bouts of melancholy. With a star turn by the late Rutger Hauer, fantastic production design by sci-fi stalwart Syd Mead and a lavish soundtrack by electronic music maestro Vangelis, it’s one of the most influential visions of the future in all of cinema. To that point, one of the primary quibbles with HDR10 has been the "set it and forget it" variable when it comes to color, contrast, and black levels.Over the last 35 years, Blade Runner has run the gauntlet of being considered an expensive indulgent failure to being one of the highest-regarded films in science fiction filmmaking. To that point, this isn't a complete set of bonus features and unfortunately is short sighted in that it doesn't do any pre-release promotion of the upcoming Blade Runner 2049. Asking questions about the nature of existence itself, not to mention a fascinating look at a near future LA and our ongoing moral wrestling match with the concept of artificial intelligence, Ridley Scott’s original 1982 film was a forward-thinking adaptation of Philip K. Bigger in scope, with more to grapple with and discern, it's a long watch but it's hard to take your eyes off it.

With decades of expectations stacked against it in addition to mypersonal bias,somehow Blade Runner 2049 emerged as an incredible sequel that not only proves its worth but expands and builds upon the foundations its predecessor.
