About this deal

Some people will recommend to go as big as your space allows, but if you then don’t use all the space in the polytunnel, you might regret this. Hot spot tape is going to really reduce tears like this on the corners of the frames in particular that you can see on the Garden Point– don’t panic though it’s far from over. This one is old and has lasted very very well indeed. I couldn’t recommend it to people enough at the price… Garden Point Green Polytunnel needs hot spot tape Once you have a plan of what you would like to grow, you will know how much space you will need inside and outside the polytunnel.

The final thing to note here is that Lynne has used some gaffer tape/duct tape on the joins in the frame. Again, this is not essential as the tunnels have good swage-joints throughout, but while you are putting the frame together, why not!? It will only help keep the frame secure and robust into the future. The framework is a pretty sensible 1 inch bit of steel tubing. Yeah it’s enough, no it’s not the most solid but here we are discussing budget – not the absolute best. And no, if you bang a load of earth, or bags of dirt or sand filled over the edges this won’t go anywhere. My preference would be level ground but you can build up the sides to keep it level if necessary but not essential because this is a roll up door and you won’t catch it like some of the models that do have a pivot door – however much easier that are to use like the The plastic mesh cover features three roll-up doors, allowing you to access the crops within the tunnel, whilst also allowing you to zip them down and secure them closed when you are not tending to your crops, meaning maximum protection for your plants and vegetation. With its spacious, 6 square metres of walk in space, this polytunnel offers gardeners more than enough room for trays, pots, grow bags, shelving, and pretty much any other farming equipment you can fit in there. The heavy duty PE covers come with extra long sides for more anchoring and support during harsh conditions and while fully closed, the tunnel traps heat and maintains optimum humidity levels. It also features a metal frame and door for easy access. For ventilation, the manufacturer included six roll up mesh windows that are insect proofed. This makes it a value added option for allotments and family gardens. What I like about it: To start our review off, we will take a look at the Outsunny polytunnel, the smallest and consequently cheapest product on our list. Unlike the products which we will later go on to look at, the Outsunny polytunnel boasts a wide and low design – so low that you can’t actually get inside the tunnel, which is exactly why it ranks at the bottom of our list. However, don’t be discouraged – this does not have to be a dealbreaker, it is simply a unique design feature of the product which will put some users off, but will likewise draw others in.After the construction was complete, we finished ours off with some cheap pallet collars (bought from Facebook Marketplace) as raised beds, then laid a slab path down the middle, filling in the gaps with gravel. My recommendation would be to sit down and think carefully about what you want to grow on your allotment or in your garden. Inside the polytunnel but also outside. If the location of your garden or allotment polytunnel is especially exposed, you can look into reinforcing your polytunnel with wood, even if the polytunnel itself does not come with this feature. One thing I wouldn’t recommend is going for the cheapest options. Because these tend to be of poor quality and are likely to only last for a few months. How to stop polytunnel blowing away? Any garden structure will need weighing down so it doesn’t turn into a kite, and polytunnels are no exception. You can use an anchor base, which means that you don’t have to use concrete so secure your polytunnel, or a base plate which holds the polytunnel into a concrete or hard standing area. Q: What to grow in a polytunnel over the winter?

Like the VonHaus polytunnel, the frame is constructed from four galvanised steel hoops, which support a strong, reinforced plastic cover. One key difference between the VonHaus polytunnel and the VOUNOT polytunnel is the door. Where VonHaus have included a swinging door, fit with a metal frame, VOUNOT keep it simple with a roll-up door which is secured shut with a zip. I do think that the VonHaus swinging door is a nice feature, however it is somewhat pointless, and given the extra effort the door takes in assembly, as well as the premium in price which you pay for this extra, I think VOUNOT have got the right idea in keeping things nice and simple with a roll-up plastic door. Panel Houses – This is a hybrid between tunnel and greenhouse. The best models use dual wall construction with embedded bubbles for stronger cladding and insulation. They may have also installed heaters, etc. However, they’re quite expensive. If you’re after more of a greenhouse feel, opt for a walk-in polytunnel with an internal height of around 2 metres. With one of these models, you can walk around inside the structure and tend to your plants without having to stoop. This also gives you the opportunity to grow more plants, including fruit trees. Some tomato plants can also grow to around 2 metres. Anchor plates can be used to create a firmer, more secure foundation for polytunnels. Anchor plates are buried into the ground, with a hollow metal tube that remains visible above ground level. The structural frame of the polytunnel is then inserted into this tube. This is a great way to stop the polytunnel from moving. Trenching Made from 140 g PE fabric, with a galvanised steel metal frame, this tall 6 x 3 x 2 m polytunnel can cover a large flowerbed or vegetable patch. The only thing it’s realistically missing but I can accept at this price point is a pivot door like the FeelGoodUK PRO– that would have elevated this unit a long long way and secured top spot – with the new range next year I’ll be paying close attention but for now, this is my top spot.
