Homegrown and simple – Gin Bothy’s award winning bothy is nestled in the Angus Glens of Scotland, where they create premium gins. We had three people sample the Gins, following the well put together video instructions on how to sample, mix and garnish them. They raved about some of these and had a great time. So much so, we bought two bottles of them from their shop to recreate at home later that night. Hand bottled, hand batched and hand poured, each batch is distilled locally in a 200-litre copper still then infused in the Bothy for up to four months. Brilliant. Incredible spiced rum. Now my firm favourite. Please don't stop making this. I will be buying this regular once the bottle has finished. The chilli liqueur is also amazing. Our best selling full-strength sipping gin is named Gunshot as it is the same colour as bullets and leaves you a warm inner glow.

My only gripe is we felt it was just too darn cheap for what we received, so I hope they continue to thrive. I am sure they know their margins, but that was worth double what we paid. Created in small batches of 300 bottles per distillation in a 200 litre traditional copper still, the Gin Bothy hand-turns and hand-batches as part of its production process. These were exceptional, especially the local produce on the ploughman's one. These were presented on the table as well as the room, gins and mixers were. In my opinion this added 200% to the experience, so don't skip them and add them in at booking. As cheap as a MacDonald's and an infinitely better "lunch".Gunshot discovery of my year...really really good, the only gin I can drink neat, the flavour is amazing. Great staff made us more than welcome and took a great deal of time explaining what we would see and do during our visit. Alex Spink and Sons have been making smokies in Arbroath since 1977. They worked with Gin Bothy Founder, Kim Cameron applying their traditional smoking techniques to juniper, orange peel, coriander and lemon which were then distilled, creating the Gin Bothy’s first smoked gin.
