About this deal

The Glasgow City Council has bought 5 000 Aranet4 CO 2 monitors to measure the air quality in every teaching space in every school in the city. Therefore, while some companies will heavily advertise their usage of a dual-beam sensor, it’s far from an essential feature. When you get home, and the device connects to WiFi again, the data will be sent to your phone, and you can analyse it there. However, despite this longer battery life, the device is not portable – it’s just too large and designed to sit on a desk, table, or windowsill.

I see more than 100ppm variations for no apparent reason between the meters and in a short number of days, within the same meter. If a rooms CO2 Level is high and this high level has been produced by several people simply breathing, talking, coughing or sneezing, then this is a clear indication that Airborne Pathogens may be present. Increase in Productivity - Studies have shown, that with less CO2 buildup many people find that they gain back productivity, focus, and energy - three main areas where poor indoor air quality often influences. To answer these questions, we will need to look at the carbon dioxide sensor inside the monitor and compare it to some known accurate devices. However, if you are in a situation where you want to use multiple monitors with a base station, the Pro is the monitor you’ll want to opt for.

At the end of the day, whether you’re seeing 1400ppm or 1500ppm, both indicate that better ventilation is needed.

Outdoor concentrations vary between approximately 400 ppm (parts per million) in clean air areas and 500 ppm in urban areas. While this will allow you to use the device throughout the day at work or school, it’s a frustrating disadvantage of the device. Below these entries, you can find options to update the device and change the WiFi network it is connected to. This NDIR-based monitor uses a Sensirion SCD40 – a carbon dioxide sensor that I’ve found to be very accurate in my testing.

They tend to claim +/- 50ppm plus +/- 5% as a basic accuracy, which is a pretty wide range for a normal room, and it appears to be even wider than that for some reason, which is very annoying. Therefore, while I would prefer an E-ink screen, I can’t complain about the screen on the SmartAir CO2 Monitor. So, the higher CO 2 in the room, the more you’re breathing air that someone else has already exhaled.
