About this deal

The kids go outside to play and happen to see a woman flying by them on a broomstick who then crashes and they run over to make sure she is ok.

The magic here is all of the obviously pretend variety, like Harry Potter or the fairy godmother in Cinderella, not teaching young readers how to do magic or anything like that. It is very prettily decorated with a tiny ribbon bow on the front and the illustration on the cover is in the same old print style as those inside the book. You know how you have a favorite from childhood, and then you find it as an adult, and oh my gosh is that what it really is about? She was the daughter of a physician, and was raised in a Georgian house at the end of the High Street in Leighton Buzzard. I am even more confused now than I was, before I read this book, as to whether the movie I remember is Mary Poppins or Bedknobs and Broomsticks. If he screws it on half-way and makes a wish, the bed will take them anywhere they'd like to go--past or present.

A brand new paperback edition of BEDKNOBS AND BROOMSTICKS, comprising the two favourite magical classics THE MAGIC BEDKNOB and BONFIRES AND BROOMSTICKS. Initially it's a fun idea, with the children appearing first at their mother's house in London on the street in bed, but when we get back into the 17th Century with a necromancer named Emelius Jones who is wanted to burn at the stake, the book seems to take a darker turn.I liked the latter much better than the former, mostly due to the presence of a wannabe wizard from the Middle Ages who was sweet and hapless. While a good transformation to Blu-ray, it is a bit disappointing Disney chose to convert the 117 min.

In The Magic Bedknob they only go on two adventures with the magic bedknob, which is a surprise because there are three children to begin with, so only two of them actually get a wish (though actually, Paul is the only one the spell works for). The book(s) by Norton touches upon the war--with references to the black-out and the children wondering if it would be fair to use magic in war-time. Jones is terrified by their strange appearance, but eventually they coax him back to the 20th century with them (the story, I believe, takes place in the 1940s).

Come sempre, la storia del libro è molto diversa dalla sua trasposizione cinematografica, tanto che le poche cose in comune sono i personaggi e il letto. I didn't so much enjoy this, but thought it would be interesting to see the similarities between both book and film. There is a chap going to be burned for witchcraft, for causing the Great Fire actually, he's a professional necromancer but it's all humbug. During the meantime, Disney instructed Robert and Richard Sherman to begin development on the project. And while we don’t actually learn how to become a witch in ten easy lessons, what we do come to know and understand – loyalty, courage, acceptance, love – will offer rewards that are greater and longer-lasting.

Her first book was The Magic Bed Knob; or, How to Become a Witch in Ten Easy Lessons published in 1943, which, together with the sequel Bonfires and Broomsticks, became the basis for the Disney film Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Arthur Gould-Porter as Captain Ainsley Greer, a British Army captain who comes from HQ in London to inspect the Home Guard and becomes lost in the area. It certainly wouldn’t be like anything in the book Bedknob and Broomstick, but I have a feeling that movie was wildly different from the book. The best fiction – as it’s occasionally noted – often comes out of personal experiences, however much or little they are disguised or adapted on the page. Paul is about six; his possession of the bedknob and the Isle of Naboombu children's book lead to the group's adventures as well as the eventual solution to the quest for the Substitutiary Locomotion spell. Ha sido un disfrute conocer la obra original de una bruja que me acompañó en la infancia, pero su versión literaria no es tan mágica ni desgrana la misma crítica social. Discover The Magic Bedknob and Bonfires and Broomsticks, two stories full of magic from much-loved author Mary Norton, and the inspiration behind the classic film What’s included in your Box?
