About this deal

With three, precisely angled, silk dome tweeters, the Arc spreads the sound widely. Using a left/centre/right configuration, you get a ‘wall of sound’ for enveloping audio. The setup process is designed to be as simple as possible, all done through the Sonos S2 smartphone app. (Image credit: Future) Clean only with dry soft cloth. Household cleaners or solvents can damage the finish on your Sonos products. Connecting the Arc is easy. Simply connect to the mains then plug in your TV via HDMI. An optical digital input is also standard. For streamlined control, an Infrared sensor syncs with your TV’s remote, giving one-remote convenience. Siri: you’ll need the Apple Home app. Add your AirPlay2-compatible Sonos speakers to the Apple Home app and then use an iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV to ask Siri to play music (currently limited to Apple Music). Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus that produce heat. Another much-longed-for addition for the Arc (Gen 2) would be HDMI passthrough ports, allowing users to connect source devices direct to the Arc. Sonos has always steered clear of extra inputs, citing a desire to keep its users' home cinema set-up as streamlined as possible. Still, with growing numbers of input devices hogging TV HDMIs, it's a feature often found on equivalently priced products. Using ARC makes it simple to connect but invites the same infuriating lipsync issues that can plague other soundbars, particularly with TV services such as Sky and Virgin in the UK.All of that effort paid off: the Sonos Arc delivers one of the most convincing Atmos presentations of any soundbar we’ve heard. Height junkies can turn up the volume of the Arc's upward-firing drivers using a separate control, but we don't find it necessary to overly boost the vertical channel to enjoy the Arc's immersive delivery.

What would you like to see from a second-generation Arc soundbar? Is there any area where you think positive changes could be made? Let us know in the comments below.

We really didn’t feel any desperate need to add a Sub to the Arc soundbar, there was more than enough powerful bass to allow you to feel those on-screen explosions or beat drops when turned up loud. We even felt the night mode settings that lower the bass EQ would be a useful feature for those in apartments with thin walls.
