Also, if you bought a newer (generation 3) Arc 5 and you can’t find the exact foils it came with, you can always use an older model as it will fit just fine. I’ve been using DE Razor for 20+ years and always use Japanese Feather steel blades, after years of trialling everything else they absolutely give me the least razor burn (none) and provide the best mitigation for ingrown hairs, from which I have always suffered. They are v.v. sharp and I shaved every 2/3/4 days with no problems. Recently, I needed to shave more often, so decided to try electric and bought a Braun series 3 skinpro, for the very reason it wouldn’t cut as close and should therefore cause minimal irritation and help with ingrown hairs. It kinda works but I get sore skin afterwards as I need to pass over the same area a few times, especially upper lip (I’ve tried wet and dry) but I’m starting to dread using it daily. But it is good against causing ingrown hairs. I’m beginning to think the discounted Panasonic ES-LV65 might be the solution, contrary to whats said on paper/theory. I’m a big fan of the quality of anything truly made in Japan and their steel! I usually don’t recommend Panasonic shavers to users that deal with ingrown hairs for the very reason you’ve mentioned in the comment — they shave very close and make it more likely for the hair to become ingrown. I think your results with very sharp Feather blades have more to do with the fact that they cut the hair clean in one stroke with minimal skin damage around the hair follicle and also don’t leave behind a sharp stomp as other blades might. You’re also less inclined to do a second pass or go across or even against the grain which again favors ingrown hairs. Side note: All generation 3 foils/sets are also cross-compatible regardless of the revision. For example, if you own a revision C shaver like the ES-LV9Q you can upgrade the foil to the latest revision G/H/J foil/set. 2.2 Compatible (older) foils and blades First & second gen Panasonic Arc 5 foil & blades Part type I prefer to change both the blades and the foils even when some of them seem to be in better shape. Pairing a worn foil with new blades won’t get the best out of the blades and some micro-warping of the foils may actually increase the wear of the new blades.
