In the making of Gremlins 2: The New Batch, Mohawk was a puppet. However, in the scene where he comes out of hiding in his spider web and sees Kate and Marla, he was actually a miniature puppet set to appear as if it was full size. A puppet stuffed with Styrofoam was most likely used for scenes when he was shown to scale with other gremlins and characters. Some scenes starring Mohawk were actually a mechanical puppet which had the latex skin of Mohawk placed over it. I cannot decide if the sculpt or the paint applications are more impressive, but both of them are at the top of the heap for any action figure I have gotten recently. Again, the screen to plastic translation is scary and every little detail from tooth to claw is rendered amazingly. The only adds to the impressive look, and if you even attempt to count all of the paint applications on this figure, you should be considered certifiably insane. I cannot count any corner that was cut in accurately rendering all of the colors and details form the movie to plastic and paint plays a huge role in this. I honestly have no nits with this figure when it comes to paint or sculpt, but are truly outstanding. Mohawk was violent, savage, as well as otherwise looking much more sinister than the other Gremlins in the film. Mohawk was a bully towards Gizmo, zapping him with electrical wires, making continuous copies of him with a photocopier, putting Velcro strips on Gizmo then ripping them off, and hitting him with a toy train. Stripe was very cruel and vile to Gizmo and did not seem to have much care for the other gremlins (who he only seemed to see as his minions) either. He seemed to be more serious in situations unlike the other gremlins. Stripe was very hostile to Gizmo the Mogwai. His dislike for Gizmo may have been because he did not want the other Mogwai to refer to Gizmo as their leader because they were born from him. Stripe has the overall mind of a gangster when it comes to his choices of weaponry such as handguns and machine guns. His dislike for Gizmo was so popular that there was even a video game known as Stripe vs. Gizmo made for Nintendo Game Boy Advanced. Stripe seemed to act more focused than the other gremlins while he was playing poker in Dorry's Tavern and only seems to laugh when another individual is hurt (mainly Gizmo), proving him to be sadistic. His sadism is also shown frequently in the sequel where he is torturing Gizmo. Stripe mainly uses the Mogwai/gremlin language. However, he can read English as seen in the scene from Gremlins when he reads the sign at Mrs. Deagle's home and says her name four times. Mohawk is considered the reincarnation of Stripe from the first film, where Mohawk’s actions were possibly out of revenge for having been killed by sunlight. Mohawk drank the spider serum in a hallway, which resulted in the lower half of his body becoming spider-like. He used the lower part of his body to spin a web in a corridor of the building, which he trapped several of his victims in, One of these victims was Mara Bloodstone, and Billy's girlfriend Kate arrived to help her. However, Mohawk appeared before she had time, and he started to head towards them. Before he could kill Marla and Kate, Gizmo showed up with a makeshift bow and arrow which he lit on fire and launched at Mohawk, setting him on fire and killing him once and for all. After spending time in his cocoon, he used his lion fish-like fin to carve his way out of his cocoon. Later his arm appeared tapping Gizmo on the shoulder and grabbing him to beat him up. Like Dr. Catheter said "All they have to do is to eat three or four children and there'd be the most appalling publicity." Let's face it Gremlins 2, and the original are both equally a part of 80's kids movie library. Much like Goonies, and Monster Squad these movies seem to speak to "modern" kids even. My nephew loves these movies, and even more the creepy, Gremli's that NECA has produced.
