Honestly all that direct did was leave a bitter taste in my mouth. Nintendo have got arrogant from the switch success and now doing as little as possible. Them and Sony both at it and MS is hardly spoiling us. The whole industry has got arrogant and greedy. Even more so. Who thought that was possible In RetroPie, the libretro emulator cores are identified with a lr- in front of their name. For example, lr-snes9x2010 is the libretro core of the SNES emulator called snes9x2010. It looks to be a simple but elegant controller if I was to go by looks alone. I am pretty impressed, but I think my first 8bitdo controller will be their SNES Pro. (I think it is called something like that.) Note Hotkey combinations are specific to the retroarch/libretro based emulators. Hotkey Combination The Genesis/Mega Drive had a 6 button controller released, with 3 extra buttons (X, Y, Z) placed above the normal 3 (A, B, C). A small subset of games do not function with the 6 button controller, but the vast majority do. To emulate the 6 button controller, do the following: lr-genesis-plus-gx

Way ahead of its time, the Dreamcast controller features modern sensibilities in a unique form. Its VMU compatibility led to some truly creative design decisions that managed to streamline game concepts, and it’s generally an incredibly comfortable controller. The Dreamcast died fast, but its controller will live on for the dozens of people still playing their DC. Serrano, Aarón Rodríguez; Núñez, Marta Martín; Catalán, Shaila García (May 4, 2020). I wonder what N64 games will be released on Switch, they didn't release many for the Wii U VC. retro_player_22 Controller arrived today and the USB port also allows the controller to work with PC and Switch via a wired connection. So it isn't just for charging. I would be very surprised if it couldn't also be used to update the firmware. Not so that it can connect to other devices wirelessly (I understand what 2.4GHz and Bluetooth are), but to fix any issues with the general operation or to add new customisation options etc. The following is a list of game controllers. It includes input devices that are notable and whose primary function is to control how the video games are played. Regional variants and models containing insignificant changes are not included.Damien has over a decade of professional writing experience under his belt, as well as a repulsively hairy belly. Rumours that he turned down a role in The Hobbit to work on Nintendo Life are, to the best of our knowledge, completely and utterly unfounded. mystman12 Thanks for the insight. Unfortunately the issue with their future usefulness with Nintendo hardware or software is still absolutely a huge problem. The thing that really chafes about it is that they knew exactly what they were doing in getting rid of the VC and limiting the functionality of these controllers to a service they've scarcely supported and which will no doubt have its plug pulled shortly after they move on to their next console, maybe within 2 to 3 years. That N64 controller needs to rumble like crazy when I'm looking for secrets in OOT and blowing things up in Lylat Wars. As seen above in the config for the USB SNES controller, each input on the controller has an associated value. When setting up the controller in EmulationStation, these values are then assigned a respective action on RetroArch. Seems nice but I will never buy another 8bitdo product after both of controllers I got from them ended up breaking.Besides, one could argue that diagonals are hard to pull on joypads, but more and more games get a "second button for jump" option now (through whdload) so it's less a concern now for platformers (and with some training, diagonals are pretty doable). I feel like I'm one of the few who actually loved the Virtual Console. I always supported it and never once said it should be abandoned. For years, most online seemed like they hated it. Well, they got their wish.

RetroArch controls have been integrated into EmulationStation and will be the first thing you see when you boot from the RetroPie SD image the first time. You can also access it from the start menu within EmulationStation under the Configure Input option. Your joypad is automagically configured for libretro (RetroArch) emulators when you configure your controller in EmulationStation. You'll know if your controller has been automagically configured if you see a flash of yellow text on the bottom of the screen with your gamepad ID when you start a game. I want this!!!! My old Mega Drive pads are a bit creaky, these sound like ideal replacements, and using them on Switch is an added bonus. best of all, this has the lowest lag of any of my wireless switch controllers (I also have a pro con, and a sn30pro) somehow. I mean, like ZERO lag. I don't know how they did it. Can you use the N64 controller with a PC. No interest on overpaying for that subscription but should be a dream come true with emulators Gwynbleidd haha. True. Honestly I expected better on the online switch thing… I didn’t think they’d do so little and expect more cash…. But yeah this industry was only ever gonna get more greedy
