About this deal

A knife scraping against a glass bottle is the most unpleasant sound for most human beings. Researchers from the Newcastle University and Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging at UCL, both in England, reported in the Journal of Neuroscience that when we hear unpleasant sounds, the auditory cortex and the amygdala interact more intensely and process the negative emotions. The amygdala is a small almond shaped part of the brain that processes our emotions and aggression. It also controls fear responses and forms emotional memories. Amygdala = A mass of grey matter inside each cerebral hemisphere. It performs a primary role in processing memory, decision-making and emotional responses (including fear, anxiety, and aggression). Part of the Limbic system its job is to prioritize everything that comes into your brain: smell, sight, taste, sound and feelings. Calmer reduces resonance (distortion) by using a tiny waveguide inside our ears that removes the effect of the Concha. The Concha is the small shell shape that connects to our ear canal which normally resonates mid frequency sounds. By reducing this resonance, Calmer dampens the most common alert-triggering noises such as phone alerts, dogs barking, tube trains, slamming doors and sudden loud vocal noises. Also, mid frequency sounds have none of their normal painful aspects. But you don't need to spend a fortune for noise-cancelling headphones. Some of the people I spoke to said they rely on cheaper, reliable options that are wireless for maximum comfort and flexibility.

Calmer has a remarkable effect without you really realising, until you remove the device then experience the reality once again,” continues Roberts. “We’re hoping Calmer can help all sorts of people, including those suffering from stress and anxiety, auditory over-load, or those living with sensitive hearing. Also office workers who need to reduce stress and improve productivity and music lovers who simply want to experience music in the purest detail. The application potential is wide.” They effectively remove the wince factor and overall dulls the percieved transient response. This is both a negative and a positive in my book. It’s different rather than outright better. TECHNOLOGY Calmer reduces resonance (distortion) by using a tiny waveguide to reflect sound into our ear which bypasses the effect of the Concha. Loop Experience earplugs reduce noise by 20 decibels. By combining an acoustic channel and filter for natural sound, Loop protects your hearing in style. It helps reduce anxiety from noise triggers, makes one feel less stressed or impatient, and avoids outbursts of anger.Join the thousands of people who have already benefited from our services and take the first step towards a happier, healthier life. What’s the mark up on these things in regards of retail price versus production cost per pair, I wonder? And also, what are the people paid in the factories that make them and what is that wage worth relative to their local economic conditions? The World Health Organisation published evidence in (2018) that unpleasant city noise contributes to raised stress levels, a multitude of health issues and even increased risk of premature death. Calmer comes following a decade of research and testing by Flare, a UK-based audio technology company, and could make an invaluable contribution to reducing these risks and improving our day to day well-being. The earplugs are made from a low-pressure, slow-release foam that is both soft and squishy. As an added bonus, their cushy feel doesn’t irritate the delicate skin of your ear canal. Plus, with 50 earplugs in one bottle, they last quite a long time. The Loop Experience earplugs are my favorites for wearing during the day when I need to focus or handle stress. First of all, the Calmer system is tiny, or about as big as a typical XL-sized ear tip, and weighs just 0.5g each. They are made of a soft touch durable but also a very flexible silicone material in a greyish ‘Flare’ branded finish. Lower stress levels by removing the common trigger points that usually keep us on edge (phone alerts, sudden loud vocal sounds, dogs barking etc). The effect also happens in the midrange of my ears. It seems to chop off the very top edginess. For instance, Saxophones tend to have a piercing effect but when the Calmers are in the piercing is gone and they sound smoother.

Thus the filtered sound reduction earbuds ensure a clear sound experience. Additionally, Vibes’ clear-as-glass design makes them virtually invisible, thus avoiding the stigma that is associated with wearing bright, visible hearing protection in public. Researchers believe noise-annoyance contributes to anxiety and depression in the general population. The sounds around us – constant aircraft flyovers, honking horns, people yelling, dogs barking could elicit anxiety. Eargasm High Fidelity Earplugs: These earplugs are made with soft, supple material, but we were disappointed in their noise reduction capabilities. We also found the instructions were difficult to understand, and we had a hard time getting the plugs to fit properly. They might be better suited for someone with small ear canals. Calmer Night is not an earplug so you will still be able to hear these noises. Just without the normal harsh tones.
