The GPD WIN MAX 2 features the high-performance AMD Ryzen 7 6800U processor that has eight cores and sixteen threads running up to 4.7GHz between a configurable 15W-28W TDP. For amazing looking smooth visuals on this handheld, the AMD Radeon 680M provides up to 2.2GHz of power. The device / controller rumble is annoying and far from immersive as they claim. It's more like a mosquito than a rumble and I find it highly annoying so try to disable it in game wherever possible. The GPD WIN MAX 2 supports up to 32GB of LPDDR5-6400 MT/s RAM and up to 2TB of SSD supporting up to m.2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe 2280 SSD. There is an additional slot on the rear of the Windows Handheld for up to 2TB m.2 PCIe 3.0 SSD.

The GPD WIN MAX 2 is an amazing combination for work and play with a great battery life. By day you can work with highly demanding office documents and then simply remove the two panels to reveal a gaming powerhouse! The WIN 3 weighs approximately 560g, and with dimensions of 198x98x.27mm, it’s really puts the “portable” in portable gaming pc. With 3x3950mAh batteries as well, enjoy between 3 to 14 hours of usage (actual usage time depends on stress/load). In our fan noise and temperature tests we ran Cinebench for 10 minutes at the default 28W TDP and measured them both. We got a highest temperature of 63 degrees and highest fan noise at 63 dB.

For 15W we got an average FPS of 42.55, at 20W we got 49.28, and at 30W we got 57. All very good scores! At 1600P we got just 23 FPS which is still respectable considering the game demands and resolution. All have worked great when you find their sweet spot and 60fps low to medium settings is not out of the question. Emulation wise I have been playing Metroid Prime and F-Zero GX at X2 native resolution and they run full speed with no issues.

Test if micro sd & sd card can be read. A lot of users were having issues with it disconnecting and reconnecting. This problem doesn't immediately show up, so if you use SD and Micro SD a lot, I would monitor this. Below are the system benchmark comparisons for 30W TDP. You can see on PassMark that the faster 2TB makes a difference in the score as it includes disk performance tests, But the 2TB model does fall behind in the other tests. The two 1TB models have very similar scores across the other tests. Touch screen deadzones. Make sure all corners of the screen can be touched correctly.
