About this deal

This mold was further retooled as Legends Super Ginrai, which was redecoed into Siege On Cybertron Magnus Prime. Powermaster Optimus Prime, being the grand toy rebirth of Optimus Prime post-movie, apparently received a lot of thought during the design process. Prime went through an inordinate number of design changes from concept to final with at least three very major revisions: Hasbro reissued the "Original Autobot Leader" toy as part of their European Classics line of reissues in 1991; In an unexpected turn of events, Platinum Edition Optimus Prime is an unchanged release of Hybrid Style Convoy, making it the very first Hasbro release of the figure. He retains all of the original figure's accessories, and the die-cast construction. A supposed factory error even caused this version (minus display stand) to be included in the larger Optimus Prime kit (see below). This problem has (presumably) been fixed, but it was awesome while it lasted.

This version of the mold was used to create the e-HOBBY exclusive Laser Ultra Magnus, and somewhat more perplexingly, was briefly repurposed by the second Beast Wars Reborn text story as a temporary body for Optimus Primal!Optimus has a hidden sculpted mouth underneath his face mask, though attempts at removing the mask from the head may entirely damage the action feature. Canon/Transformers Optimus Prime is a roughly Voyager-sized figure that transforms into a fully licensed Canon EOS R5 digital camera. The toy is 80% the size of the genuine article and features a removable lens attachment, though it must be reattached to him before he can transform to robot mode since it forms his arms. The lens cap is removable and is used as a shield in robot mode. His included Matrix of Leadership can be pegged onto his lens, just behind the front element. He also comes with a small version of his own camera mode. Known designers: Aaron Archer (Hasbro), Hironori Kobayashi and Shogo Hasui (TakaraTomy), Don Figueroa (concept artist) Part of the Legend Commander Collection sold at Transformers Expo, "Convoy (Jodai)"— jodai (初代) meaning "first generation"—is a redeco of Robotmasters G1 Convoy. While most of the paint masks are identical to the original mold, other changes include replacing the translucent parts into clear blue plastic, and the panel-lining on the grill is stripped off. Unlike the first toy, he does not include a pair of swappable 3mm fists, his missile launcher, or his Calamity Defenser weapon.

Super Cyborg SG Optimus Prime is an 11-inch-tall non-transforming figure with 7 points of articulation, and (naturally) a redeco of the previously-released "standard" Optimus Prime version. Its main distinguishing feature is that the entire front of the robot torso is removable, exposing not just the expected Matrix of Leadership but also many other sculpted mechanical details within Prime's body. Accessories: Altrernate head, Ion Blaster, Beam effect part, Dark Matrix of Leadership, Energon axe

Part of the first wave of TakaraTomy's Premium Finish subline, Optimus Prime is a redeco of the Siege Voyager Class toy, with the same weapons and C.O.M.B.A.T. System functionality. Nemesis Prime and the other Core Class figures from his wave arrived at US retail less than a week after their initial reveal. However, the battle was not over yet, as Alpha Trion, Sky Lynx, and Nightscream had arrived to kill Optimus themselves. However, Prime introduced the trio to a completed Omega Doom, who reduced Alpha Trion to a distant smear on the ground, before going off to destroy the Decepticons while Optimus dealt with Sky Lynx and Nightscream. Reunification: Part 5 The Coming Storm: Part 1 Shouldn't be hard for him to fit in with the Decepticons... There's like, two other "evil Optimus Prime" guys in their ranks. Had it been released, this toy would have been a redeco of War Within Optimus Prime. His unpublished bio described a character much like the Universe version mentioned above, but without reference to Straxus or any type of origin story. As a redeco of a War Within toy, this Nemesis would presumably—but not necessarily—have been part of the Dreamwave comics continuity.
