About this deal

The most relatable and easy to understand, motivational book I have had the pleasure of reading today.... (In just one sitting too) This is my first podcast where I talk openly about my addiction, recovery and how I am building a life that I never believed I could attain in addiction. Hayley admits for the first time in this interview, the true impact that drinking had on her mental health and how this shielded her from actually facing up to her diagnosis of Charcote Marie Tooth condition (motor neuron condition). How many times have you told yourself ‘never again’ but found yourself repeating the same negative actions of drinking, hangover, regret and repeat? Sober On A Drunk Planet provides an easy 3 step solution to quit drinking alcohol for good.

Full Book Name: Sober On A Drunk Planet: Giving Up Alcohol. The Unexpected Shortcut to Finding Happiness, Health and Financial FreedomI speak with Zach about running a multi-million-pound business, losing it to addiction and coming to terms with childhood trauma. We speak about his upbringing and how that shaped his addictive nature from an early age. This weeks guest is James, a celebrity hairstylist, who shares his battles with addiction, sobriety and about living a life beyond sobriety. Really interesting read putting a lot of things into perspective. I can't compare this book to other sober lifestyle books as this is my first but it certainly motivated me to move in the direction I want to head. I have followed James on his sober journey since week 4 and he is smashing it. Top lad, super talented hairstylist and is smashing the self-development in his first 6 months.

I hope the podcasts provide hope and inspiration for people that listen as I know the biggest thing that made me realise I needed help was listening to addicts and relating to their former lives. I was born into a family that struggles with abusing alcohol. Generations of struggles from grandpas to great uncles to parents and husbands. Alcohol used to revolve around every activity that we ever participated in! Work events, traveling, meals, events, picnics - alcohol was everywhere and hard to stay away from. I speak to Tia about her journey from party girl to attending alcoholics anonymous. We discuss our pre-conceptions of what we thought Alcoholics anonymous was but the surprising turn of events that helped us both become sober. Giving up' alcohol might sound daunting... But what are you actually giving up when you're hungover on the sofa all day? Cutting out the booze can transform your life in unexpected ways. I talk about my addiction to alcohol, drugs and gambling in a particularly dark time for me when I was 28 and how rehab saved my life. I talk about my experience of going to Alcoholics anonymous and doing the 12 step programme. I also talk about how I feel out of favour with the programme and found sobriety connection in other ways.

Highly recommended this book to everyone on this journey. Its so relatable especially for your sobriety journey - whatever stage you are at. If the idea of giving up alcohol sounds like a sacrifice, think about what you're giving up instead. Quality sleep… Time lost to hangovers… Money you could have used to transform your life… Whether you're a binge drinker, an end-of-day wine drinker, or a social drinker, you can transform your life by making a different choice. It isn't just people who know they have a problem who stand to benefit from giving up alcohol – it's everyone. I have a chat with Megan about her battle with the booze and how sobriety has helped her mental health. We talk openly about suicidal thoughts and how binge drinking led to crippling anxiety and depression.
