About this deal

stars--There's nothing wrong with this book, but I guess I was expecting more of an emotional punch after Ghosted. I listened to it as an audiobook and the dual narrators did a fantastic job keeping the story moving forward. O poveste de dragoste, învăluită în mister și secrete. Povestea Emmei și a lui Leo vă va cuceri dacă vă plac cărțile de mister & romance & cu acel ceva neașteptat. Brilliantly plotted and beautifully written, what really elevates Rosie Walsh’s book above the competition is the characters. Contradictory, flawed and entirely human, I loved and rooted for them like real people.”

This reminded me a little of a Lisa Jewell book because of its readability and addictiveness. It’s not an edgy, murder-centered thriller, but it IS suspenseful and tense throughout. The last third was very dramatic and entertaining as well. this was a such an odd reading experience because the story is pretty much a hybrid. the book begins as if its just a contemporary fiction story, but then starts to transform into a mystery/thriller, only to finish as a womens fiction novel. its as if the author didnt know what kind of story she wanted to write, so she just combined them all into one. I'm mesmerized by this general thriller/poignant love story. This is impossible to put down. It is about the secrets we keep from the one we love the most and the price we pay to keep them. Told in two POV's into past and present, it will give you so many twist, turns, heartbreaks and a secret hidden so well you will not see coming. The way the story is written captures the characters with love, laughter and heartbreak for those we protect. Their second guessing comments and thoughts were real and sometimes humorous. I could not get enough. Emma loves her husband Leo and their young daughter Ruby: she’d do anything for them. But almost everything she's told them about herself is a lie.Leo and Emma seem to have it all, especially as she nears the end of her cancer treatment, but one day Leo perceives Emma is acting differently, which in turn leads to him doing something he would never do - snooping in her things. A thread unravels from there and develops into this whole story. While there were definitely secrets to uncover, it wasn’t exactly what Leo (nor I!) thought. Pe când Emma încearcă să-și ascundă trecutul, el iese la iveală în cele din urmă. Dacă viața lor rămâne la fel după ce află Leo adevărul nu rămâne decât să descoperiți singuri. It will break your heart, too, when you read how this story unfolds through the personal viewpoints of Emma and Leo in timelines of the past and present day. It's a mystery more than a thriller with more drama than romance and I was amazed how the author created such a compelling and twisty story without violence of any kind. How refreshing! The setting drives the story with her study of a rare crab and the connection it makes to her past. A beautiful life may soon be torn apart when Leo uncovers it all. An actress from the Rothschild's family goes missing, and Leo discovers a connection between the two. What is she hiding? Emma goes missing when he begins to connect the dots with the evidence from her past.

Chapters primarily alternate between the first person perspectives of the husband and wife, so the audiobook is narrated by Imogen Church and Theo Solomon. They both did a fine job, though even at 1.75x speed it felt longer than it needed to. I was eager to get to the end to see the plot’s resolution and also to move on with my life. What do you do when you find out everything your wife ever told you about herself is a lie? Allow Rosie Walsh's love story slash mystery, The Love of My Life, to explain.” The writing was competent and many reviewer's seem to love this story (a lot more than me). I just found the various plot points unlikely and the reveals a bit of a let down.Rosie Walsh’s The Love of My Life is my favorite kind of thriller—gripping, heartbreaking and impossible to put down.” In terms of its premise, the book felt tailor-made for me. I loved the drama plus mystery vibes in the blurb. However, this doesn’t transform well to reality. The book seems like a hodgepodge of various genres – romance, suspense, family drama, literary fiction, domestic thriller – without doing justice to most. What do you do when you find out everything your wife ever told you about herself is a lie?Allow Rosie Walsh’slove story slash mystery, The Love of My Life, to explain.” And she might just have got away with it, if it weren’t for her husband’s job. Leo is an obituary writer; Emma a well-known marine biologist. When she suffers a serious illness, Leo copes bydoing what he knows best – researching and writing about his wife’s life. But as he starts to unravel the truth, he discovers thewoman he loves doesn’t really exist.Even her name isn’t real.
