About this deal

A Twist of the Knife is Peter James’s gripping first full-length collection of short stories, including the novellas The Perfect Murder, Footloose written with Val McDermid and In The Nick of Time written with Ian Rankin. Trading Address (Warehouse) Unit E, Vulcan Business Complex, Vulcan Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE5 3EB. Synonymous with plot-twisting page-turners, Peter has garnered an army of loyal fans throughout his storytelling career – which also included stints writing for TV and producing films.

Every action that develops has its' seed someplace earlier, it had me going back and rereading chapters to keep me in sync.

Grace finds himself attempting to move on with his life as that milestone is fast approaching whilst juggling his career and trying to solve the latest crime that has taken place in the city.

Of course we have Roy himself and his other half Cleo who is now pregnant and expecting their first child. The perpetrator had been dubbed ‘Shoe Man’ and was believed to have raped five women before murdering his sixth victim and vanishing. When a major Hollywood movie is scheduled to be filmed in Brighton, the town grows eager with excitement. However, I’m really hoping that the next one picks itself up to be on a par with some of the earlier books. When a mutilated torso is found on a chicken farm miles away in the countryside, Roy Grace has no reason at all to connect this to the star’s visit to the county. These books can be read as standalones, but for following the changes and growth in main characters, reading it as a series provides the best reading experience IMO. Perhaps the recipe for polularity is just that, violence and murders in very very short chapters for barely literate audiences. In the most spine-tingling part of the story the chandelier does indeed fall down and leaves one person dead. The clothing of each new character is minutely described rather than anything that would delineate character. Gaia’s personal safety is put at risk by a stalker and Sussex Police have the unenviable task of protecting her during the filming.

That’s my fault and no fault of the author’s, but it’s something to think about if you’re reading them yourself. From a woman intent on bizarre revenge to a restaurant critic with a morbid fear of the number thirteen, and from a man arranging a life-changing assignation to a couple heading for a disaster-filled vacation . But when they view Cold Hill House - a huge, dilapidated, Georgian mansion - they are filled with excitement.

but admittedly I did find it to be a weaker read than his other books, which really pains me to admit. Not Dead Yet is the eighth novel featuring Detective Superintendent Roy Grace, from the number one bestselling author Peter James.

But this particular book wasn’t for me, perhaps because I prefer the crimes that are committed by regular people, rather than the crazies.

I thought the early episodes of Grace were fantastic, and was expecting it to become one of my favourite series, and one I wouldn't want to miss, but I've found the recent episodes have been incredibly dull and very difficult to engage with. For the City of Brighton and Hove, the publicity value of a major Hollywood movie being filmed on location is incalculable. One nuclear explosive smuggled inside a reactor would turn the entire core into a massive atom bomb .
