Biological control agents (BCAs) are one of the oldest and most effective means for achieving insect control. There's no harm in using nematodes at regular intervals, for example in Spring when eggs may be laid or starting to hatch. Like most biocontrols, nematodes are best used to keep pest populations low and will not remedy a serious outbreak already in progress.

The fungus gnat larvae can be controlled all year round as long as the soil temperature is at least 8°C.
