On 21 September 2015, Moyet performed at the Burberry Show at London Fashion Week. Her set was released as a digital EP, Live for Burberry on 23 September. [25] Upon release, Deanne Pearson of Number One said: "If you want genuine, heartfelt love songs, cries of passion without cliche, look no further than Alf. With a heart as big as her voice, Alison Moyet is one of the singer/songwriters of the '80s. Commercial but uncontrived. Unlike Wham, you don't feel you're being taken for a ride." [16] Christopher Connelly of Rolling Stone noted: " Alf too often founders because of its disappointingly unimaginative arrangements. Throughout the record, Moyet's voice rings out vigorously enough, but Swain and Jolley have cloaked it in layers of dinky-sounding keyboards and dopey percussion. Their woefully banal instrumental accompaniment doesn't smother Moyet's voice but neither does it provide any support for her gutty warbling. Alf doesn't grasp or accommodate its vocalist's strengths. In the end, Moyet has to pull much of this record out of the fire all by herself." [18] Cash Box commented: "Another in the latest breed of vocalists from the United Kingdom, Alison Moyet features a more powerful delivery than Sade, and the new wave dance slant of such cuts as 'Love Resurrection' and current torch-song single 'Invisible' should make Moyet a prime candidate for crossover success." Side-line.com. 19 December 2006 . Retrieved 16 April 2012.A critical and commercial smash, the broadsheets labelled this her best album in decades while the record-buying public rewarded the LP with a UK Top 5 placing, her best since Raindancing. With some of Moyet’s typical arch wit, in a press release for the record, she described The Minutes as “Born of reconstructed improvisation. I like to think of it as prog-pop. But I also like to think of big dogs as small horses, so don’t hang on to that thought long.” Alf finds Moyet still finding herself as a performer. It's easy to forget that she was still in her early 20s when Alf was released, but she was already displaying almost limitless potential as a vocalist, and establishing herself as a solid songwriter. It's a shame then that Alf is such a synthpop album, as it found her pigeonholed as the big-voiced girl in front of a load of digital sounds. As much success as Moyet has enjoyed and as many plaudits she has been awarded for her still stunning voice, she has spent too much of her career trying to escape the long shadow cast by Alf. [1] The album launched Moyet's solo career following the disbanding of synth-pop duo Yazoo. The album reached No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart and features the singles " Love Resurrection", " All Cried Out", " Invisible" and " For You Only".

Moyet's ninth studio album Other, described as "intelligent, adventurous electronic pop," co-produced by Guy Sigsworth, was released 16 June 2017 on Cooking Vinyl. [2] From September through December that same year, she embarked on a world tour, The Other Tour. [27]

That’s explained by the three-song run towards the tail end of the album taken from Smaller, a stage play Moyet starred in with comedian and friend Dawn French. Alf Deluxe". AlisonMoyet.com. On 10 November 2014, Moyet released a live album, Minutes and Seconds – Live, taken from The Minutes Tour. Moyet reasoned that the recording was “an adult album but it’s not mainstream. There’s some blues on it, some chanson, some heavy strings. It’s the best album I’ve ever made. A lot of people will love it but it’s not Radio One.” Her worldwide album sales have reached a certified 23million, with over two million singles sold. All nine of her studio albums and three compilation albums have charted in the top 30 of the UK Albums Chart, with two of them reaching number one. She has also achieved nine top 30 singles and six top 10 hits on the UK Singles Chart. [1] Her most recent album, her ninth, Other, was released 16 June 2017. [2] Early life [ edit ]In fairness, you’d be hard pushed to see the joins. Broudie does a fine job in retooling the bulk of this record. There’s an exotic world music flourish to opener Falling– it’s Kula Shaker two years early – but don’t let that put you off. a b c d e f g h "BPI Certification". British Phonographic Industry. The first live album of Moyet’s career, the proliferation of material culled from The Minutes proves just how much confidence the singer had in her eighth studio LP. Raindancing (1987), Hoodoo (1991) and Essex (1994) are all being issued at the same time, in the same two-disc format. These will be ‘casebound book’ type presentations. The songs themselves are played pretty straight, from the wistful Windmills Of Your Mind to the gentle Gershwin standard The Man I Love.
