About this deal

Once your doughnuts and wings have hardened, cut two slits into the sides of your doughnuts, just big enough for the wings. If you’re hosting a dessert party, complement these pops with ghost cupcakes, meringue bones, and a Halloween Bundt Cake. Just like any other chocolate covered strawberry, Halloween chocolate-covered strawberries are easy to make, they just require a little bit of prep work and patience. But the end result is always worth it! Not only do the candy melts add a bit more structure to the treats, but they also add a nice vanilla flavor.

Leftovers:Baked doughnuts don’t keep well and tend to dry out faster than the fried variety. If you end up with leftovers, the best way to store them is in a paper bag. Whatever you do, don’t refrigerate them or put them in plastic. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is set. You can also allow it to set at room temperature for about 2 hours. Present! The entire recipe and instructions can be found in the recipe card at the bottom of this post. You can also print the recipe from the card, if needed. Prep! As long as you use chocolate and candy melts labelled gluten-free (most are), this recipe should be perfectly suitable for someone who is coeliac or gluten-intolerant.

Chocolate Pretzel Spiderwebs are a fun Halloween dessert you can make with the kids with just a few simple ingredients. They are perfect to bring to a Halloween party or gathering.

Use a piping bagto pipe your doughnut batter into your doughnut pan. This is a lot easier and less messy than trying to pour from the bowl.

Marshmallow Alternatives:If you’re not a fan of regular marshmallows, feel free to use flavored marshmallows. Strawberry or raspberry marshmallows can add a fun twist to the recipe. Dip the uncoated ends of the almond slivers into the candy melts and insert into the doughnut where you'd like the ears to be. So a lot of people struggle with modeling chocolate at first because they want to use it like you use fondant. It's not the same. It is very sensitive to the heat of your hands. I will see students in my class mindlessly softening the chocolate in their hands while they think about where to put it and before you know it, you've got mush. Chef’s Tip: you can also melt the candy melts in the microwave. Start with 30 seconds on 50% power, then stir and continue heating and stirring 15 seconds at a time until melted and smooth.

You always have to knead your modeling chocolate before you use it. Knead about 1 cup at a time. It's easier that way. I put mine in the microwave for no more than 10 seconds just to warm it a bit. Especially on a hot day. At first, it's really crumbly and dry. Just keep smashing it together with your hands, work out any lumps with your fingers.

So, I had to come up with a way to make the treats hold their shape a bit better without compromising their chewy texture. While I use heat proof bowls over a pots of boiling water, you can also use a double boilerto melt the chocolate.Technically, you can make Halloween chocolate covered strawberries 1-2 days in advance and store them in an airtight container in the fridge. If you have any concerns, speak to your GP or midwife before consuming Halloween chocolate covered strawberries. The orange candy melts will give your treats a nice pale orange color. To make them a more vibrant orange, you'll want to add a few drops of orange food coloring. If you're using sprinkles, have them ready in a bowl before you start dipping. That way, you can just roll the strawberry in the sprinkles after dipping it instead of trying to sprinkle them on while the chocolate is still wet.
